Given that under the new way 100 copper = 1 silver, and I presume 100 silver = 1 gold, it doesn't add anything - you just have funny circle picture seperating the numbers. I could understand if there was some different value attributed to the different metals other than just a simple exchange rate. Perhaps even keep them seperate and treat them as completely different resources.
Also when i attack someone with 1 silver, why i do steal copper, when they only had silver? its not like after a battle everyone goes down the bank and sorts out how much you were meant to have stolen. If I beat that person with 1 silver, I should steal 0 or 1 silver coins. This could even add an additional element to the game - ie you don't want to have lots of gold and silver coins on hand (in the same way you wouldn't keep lots of £50 notes in your wallet if you can keep a few £5 notes instead). But this would also require some exchange mechanism too.
Sorry, it just seems like a confusing change at the moment that adds nothing. Add in a few others thing too and I can see why it could be a good change.

This is a test version, a beta. Not all the bugs have been worked out. I will say this though. It was getting ridiculous for people to have like, 65 million gold pieces, which many people did have. With this, not only is it more realistic, but it keeps that down to a more realistic level. 65 million pennies is only what, 6,500 gold? Thats more realistic and more fun. Currently I have the most gold in this version. I have 25 gold, 33 silver and 7 copper in the bank. Doesn't sound like much, but in the old version that would be over 283,007 gold. Ridiculous. It says I only have 25 gold now, but somehow it feels more like I earned it, like I worked hard for it. Thats what this is really all about. On the other hand, you have a point. Perhaps copper should not automatically turn into silver and vice versa and same with gold and silver. Maybe you should have to go to the bank to change them out? I know a bit about coding though, this might be too difficult for now. Perhaps in a later version? We'll see what Tim says when he gets back.

I don't mind it automatically breaking it down like that; I can suspend reality and use my imagination for a minute while I play an online fantasy game. I agree that it makes the gold seem earned, and I kind of enjoy watching the silver accumulate and looking for a ripe target to help me exchange those silver pieces for another piece of the coveted gold. Ooh look--Edvar's a ripe target! Too bad he's kinda tough...

Its not a case of suspending reality, its a case of whats easier to read

You didn't make a case for it being hard to read though; you made a case for it not being realistic due to the automatic exchange of the currency.

both ways are fine with me but if we stick with this new coppers and all, the shops/taverns and such should be the same way. I get quite confused now when i have to bet cause i haven't got a clue on how much money i really have....

Its actually quite simple. 8 gold is 80,000. 4 0s, 2 for silver and 2 for copper.

I'm sorry that this addition to the game is giving you such grief, as it appears that you're in the minority. At first, I don't think very many of us liked it, but it seems to have grown on most of us. I hope you'll keep playing, even if the money is kept the way it is.

Sorry hellsangels. Looks like the new way has it. Thanks all for the input.
As a note, the display for selling has been updated (can't put images there, so I tweaked it to output text there). The whole Dice system will be updated, so I'll update that display when I do that.
