one thing always holding GOS back is that there is little to risk
gold sure, but anyone can come up with gold quite easily.
Revengeof Mutto suggested long ago on the first GOS forum that characters should die off.
Personally the thought of being able to kill someone else appeals to me very greatly.
It should be a rare occurance that lets this happen.
Rev's idea was based on how it used to show a characters "In game Age" in days and years.
I will try to think of something that adds to this to flesh it out.

Wow someone actually thinks the same as me...creepy, already suggested similar as permi death of a character if they die but sadly most of the players here didn't want it No sense of fun I guess.

Yeah, it's been discussed before, but as of this time I don't plan on coding ways for people to actually die. There will be more consequences to losing duels, but not death. Sorry.

So suppose that if you take a major thrashing, let's say a one hit kill or maybe the attacker has more HP left after the attack (due to tali's) the person who gets beaten loses X number of battles and they go to the attacker. I've said it before, I am no coder so I don't know what that would take but it would also be a way to discourage the whole naked battling thing.
It's not a death but it would surely cost you something those of us who play hardcore are really afraid of losing - battles. It would also give us more of a reason to get our REALLY good combos together.

I think that would open up too much opportunity for abuse. What's to stop you from attacking an alt or another dummy character that is considerably weaker in order to pass their battles onto the main character?

Yes, should be some destructive action, like making him to lose experience, or breaking one of their items, i m just naming some possiblities, not saying that there is a good way to implement those
Edit:Just came to my mind, stealing a random item from your victim? Edit again: the more i think, the more i like that when you beat someone you steal a random item from him, maybe you can make it that you cant steal what he has equipped, and certainly the ways to store items protecting them should not exists, dupes wont be a problem, cause you could attack the dupes and steal from them aswell...

Oooh, that's interesting! Especially since I'm a big fan of doing enough damage for a one-hit kill... lol *makes plans to store lots of rags and sharpened sticks*
And yes, equipped items should be safe from being taken, or you'd make that char a too easy target for the next attacks...

You know, for once I find myself agreeing with Daved, to a certain degree. What if, in the town, we had an Inn to restore HP? Our HP would stay down after a battle, but we would either have more HP or take away less in a hit. If your HP dropped below zero, you would lose exp and your character would be unconscious. Which would mean that you could not fight or be attacked for a certain amount of time and you would not gain any battles per hour until your character regained consciousness with like, 10% of total HP.
Sorry Ger, I do not like the idea of losing hard won items.
