Hi all! I'm still alive! Surprise!!!
Life is still busy. Kids are older now and have their own activities, so I spend a lot of might nights chauffeuring them to /from various things. Work somehow managed to get even crazier. Doesn't leave a lot of time for coding.
My plans right now aren't to make significant changes to the game again. However, there's some software on the server that's getting particularly old and I'd like to get upgraded to the latest versions, particularly the PHP. The host used to upgrade them automatically, but a few ages back there was a conflict with the new PHP and the scripts that update things automatically at the hour changes so as a mid-age fix we froze things at the older version. It's been fine so far, but it's something that really should get resolved before they remove support for the old version and we're really hosed. Unlike other changes, I couldn't really do it during a live age as it will affect all versions of the game so haven't done anything on it yet.
So that's my project: Upgrade all the off-the-shelf software and fix what breaks. Shouldn't take too long. My hope is to have things ready to go in a couple weeks. Right now, I'm shooting for launch around 10/21, but don't quote me on that in case things go really wrong. Once I have a test site up, I'll likely send it out to donors who will have access for at least a week to themselves. If I'll need much more than a week to test things, I may open it to all players. If it's not going to be much longer than a week, then I'll probably just move straight to the official site (I'm sure you're all anxious to get there anyways!).
If there are any significant bugs you guys think I should address before the next age, let me know ASAP and I'll try to squeeze them in if I can.
Wish me luck. Go Team!!
