So this isn't the topic I was planning on posting today, but since I'm putting this up over 12 hours later than I expected to, I figured it might as well be something worth the wait.
The hunt for the Horn begins! In V13 I'll be adding the Horn of Valere to GoS. It was actually supposed to show up in V12, but I ran of time. It works out well though, as I've expanded my plans for it. I know my use of it doesn't QUITE align with how the Horn works in the books, but I think I captured the spirit of it.
The Horn will be very similar to the Seals. Once the first player hits level 20, the Horn will start randomly showing up in NPC drops. If a player holds the Horn, other players can duel them for a chance to steal the Horn (same formula for stealing that's used for Seals. Duels over the Horn earn an extra 1 Ji for the winning player, but no extra XP is earned. There is of course, only one Horn to be had unlike the 7 Seals.
Also unlike the Seals, the Horn cannot be deposited in cities. However, it does have another function. The holder of the Horn can blow during horde attacks from the Horde info page. The Horn sounder has the option of which side they want to target: Horde or Army. Blowing the Horn will cut the health of the targeted horde/army in half of it's current value. Using the Horn on a horde will raise the Sounder's alignment by 100. Targeting an army will lower it by 100.
Once the Horn is used, it will be removed from the Sounder's inventory. It can then be found from NPC drops again by any player. The cycle begins again.
Being that the Last Battle for V12 just happened, I bet you're all thinking of how to exploit this in V13's Last Battle. Well you can stop: the Horn can NOT be used on Hordes/Armies during the Last Battle. Don't worry: it has a big role to play, but I'll save that for part 2.
