ok so the only thing I am confused about is the defense stat. do you want a positive (which I think I would) or a a negative
±Defense% = +Defense% reduces opponents Damage%. -Defense% increases opponent's Damage%<<<<<this confuses the heck outa me
thanks Esme

You want a positive defense% so that you take less damage. The equation is telling you that the more defense% you have, the more of your opponent's damage% is negated. Damage% has to go through Defense% before it can be applied to you as actual damage. Damage% builds are popular, so having some base block and defense% can be useful.

You're far from the first person to be confused by that one. I'd guess about 1/3 of the veteran players still don't get how it really works.

I just smash things, if adding one thing smashes them better, why make my brain work harder?

Haha I'm probably part of the 1/3 spreading confusion.
