looking at the huge piles of gold stacking up in the town banks of Emond's Field, the Waste, etc...
Once the Shop is maxed, there's nowhere else for this to go, right? How 'bout once the Shop is maxed, the gold distribution to the controlling clan members increases from 1% to maybe 10% or so? Still with the condition of the players being IN town to receive it.
This would do a couple things: it would spread more gold into the game to make gold-grab duels a little more useful/tempting/etc, and it would encourage clan members to sit in their 'home' towns occasionally - which would also provide more opportunity for high-town-point duels and maybe make the town-control battles a little more viable/worthwhile...
The only down side I see is that it could make it easier for players to get high-end gear - up to a point. The equip points system still limits what can be used, so that helps offset the danger of overpowered characters. And, it does take a fair amount of time to grow a character to the point of actually being able to use the top gear. Plus, it still takes some time (not as much as you would think, though) to max out a Shop. Anyone see other potential drawbacks?
don't know how this might intereact/conflict with your other plans for the Shops in v4, Tim, but again, lobbing one out there just in case...

hmmm...
i like this idea. you have my support...-ish 10% may be a bit much... unless i'm looking at it wrong.
[correct me if my math is wrong] 10% out of, say, 100 gold is 10 gold. that means only 10 people will get anything out of that 100. the higher percents makes it harder to cut things into very many portions. like a pie. if you want bigger equal pieces you have to cut less.
i think... but don't quote me. *flails* i is wrong... i just know it...
My random thoughts on this: What if the option on how much your members are 'payed' in town was chosen by the leaders. Like the default be 1% and it would be the leaders job to make sure the pay out is going to kill the town bank. but as upgrades get higher and more money flows into the back the leaders can choose to pay out more or keep it the same. Maybe all the options be preset, like 1%, 2%, 4%, ect.(or whatever Tim feels will work. i was just pulling numbers outta my head), and to change it you'd have a drop down menu with your choices.
**hehe... i should lay off the caffeine...**

The tows banks slowly pay into the controling clan's clan bank, that way the clan can pay for the level 4 &5 up grades that cost 1,000 in gold and 10,000 in gold

nice - didn't think about that - that makes perfect sense... could still work as above, though: with more money going directly to players, more players would be likely donate to clan bank. this would still help the clans grow, but with the benefits mentioned above of gold for duel wins and chars hanging around home towns for control-point duels... or how 'bout this: maybe 'profit-sharing' town hall upgrade (after Shop maxed, or available before ) to distrib more % to clan and to players (1% bumps per 'level', similar to current clan upgrades)? Clan leaders could gradually increase profit-sharing to players for gear and/or to clan for upgrades. this could still achieve some of the benefits of the original idea, provide more upgrades to spend town bank gold on, and give another way to customize clans...

Or you find some thing else to upgrade. Blacksmith? Stables? Tavern?
