still reading the Wiki, and random crap keeps popping into my head... example-y thing:
OK - so, there's a huge battle for a town, and during the course of the battle, the town kinda gets trashed - the shop gets the windows knocked out and the guys fighting grab a few extra goodies to pad out their gear as the battle rages on. The invading clan wins the battle, and takes over the town. Guess who has to foot the bill for putting the shop back together? the idea:what if, when a town changes hand, it's assumed that there was a huge battle, and the shop took heavy damage - and actually downgrade the shop some as a result, so that the new controlling clan has to work to build it back up again? maybe knock one level off of each item class?

Kinda brutal, but it would keep things more interesting. However, I have a new way of shop upgrading planned (maybe v4, though it's still too early to say and no I'm not going to go into details yet), that this method really wouldn't work well with. Sorry.

maybe when someone new takes over a town, a % of the town bank could be divided amongst the clan members? some "spoils of war" for the victory... this would add a little incentive, and could make for some pitched battles as a town bank nears enough gold for an upgrade. kind of a "raid" mentality - even if you don't want to keep the town, you could plan a strike when the bank's loaded, grab some gold, and then let 'em have it back...
