Well... there is a Tali to raise % of gold taken, why not one to raise the % of finding an item from npc battles.
could be called... something to do with eye sight? or... searching ability. sorry... creative name juices arn't flowing ATM.

Good idea. How about Talisman of Ta'veren?

Since the Wheel spins out ta'veren as it needs them - maybe it could be a condition that randomly attaches to a player for a fixed amount of time, rather than something to eat up gear points? Like, the wheel suddenly makes you ta'veren, and you get nothing but raw talis in NPC duels for ?half an hour...

Or your emeny is ran over by a run away wagon just before he about to finish you off

ROFL - you win all your duels thanks to runaway wagons or random snakes or other fun stuff, even against way-high-lvl players... that'd be hells of fun!
to get all example-y - like when Mat feels the dice in his head, knows his luck is in, and has no doubt that he's about to get the winning roll...
gah - this keeps growing and mutating in my head - make it stop!
for however brief a period (2 mins, maybe?) you become ta'veren, and know that you can win against anyone, and when you do win, you get your inventory topped off with raw talis and gear (NPCs) or take ALL of the player's pocket cash (duels)?
ooOOOoo - and the ideas turn nasty - this one would necessitate an even shorter time limit, like 1 minute, maybe - what if when you're ta'veren, you know you'll win every duel, and when you do, you actually take the loser's equipped gear? Leave 'em lying there, bloody, naked and stunned. What kind of twist would that put into the gameplay? mwah-hah-hah-hah ;D

The original idea, ways to make finding items more likely is plausible and I'll think about it.
The randomly ta'veren idea is too random and (the more you add to it) is WAY too powerful. No to players as ta'veren, but possibly to boosted luck affecting things.

What if it was a clan up grade, not a tali?

It does not have to be randon, the creator could award it to a player to keep balance in the game

but it would have to be defence only, you could not have a level 3 going around looking for fights with level thrity and forties and beating them, but if have a level forty was always beating on a level3, well thats another story

lol. had a thought on the original idea. (all ya'll Ta'veren should make your own thread ) What about changing all the +% gold talis to like +% of reward, so the effect getting more gold in duels and higher chance of getting an item in an NPC duel? or is that like... waaaaay to complicated.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Been wanting to do something with gold steal, since it's only useful when dueling (I never did fix the Pirate and Bandit, hence they're so worthless). That'd be a good way to make it more worth while. Trickiest part will be actually make the randomly generated drops effected by the stats. Just gonna have to make the item generation more complicated I guess. *le sigh*

This is programming...
more complicated == more fun, right?
The challenge of pulling off something insane is half the fun, at least that's how I feel every time I accomplish something crazy in the database work I do...

That's definately true, at least up to a point. When it gets complicated to the point that you need to write 1000 lines of code to get a small little change to work right, the fun starts to fade a bit. Not that I think this will change will be like that. If I was afraid/reluctant to make the coding more complex, we wouldn't have hardly any of the changes we currently have. ;D

Getting back on the Ta'avern topic...(should start its own board) maybe it doesn't always have to work in there favor...maybe it could be a scroll that one can use and for like 10 duels they are Ta'avern...they could get lucky...wagon, or they could get unlucky...bubble of evil kinda thing...that way it stays fair, but makes things that much more interesting
