What this basically means is that every city has a couple of 'Duelable NPCs' that people can fight. They don't get money for it, they won't drop items, it's just for getting some extra kills in when the city a clan is in is competing to gain leadership of it.
Also, these NPCs could be upgraded to get a higher level (and better gear) to potentially give out more xps in a building called 'Militia Barracks' or somesuch. Higher upgrades would also increase the number of NPCs, though the 'ten minute rule' should apply to them as well to prevent spamming.
Some cities have no characters in them, making them impossible to take, in turn making them even less attractive to have as nobody's upgrading them. These NPCs would provide people with something to kill, thus 'kickstarting' the Clan Wars for that area as well.
Thoughts?

interesting, but not very logical in my opinion. Killing civilians in order to raise your wincount shouldn't happen but i think the concept could be used indeed for xp gaining etc etc.
maybe to use them for wincount as well, but in that case the ruling clan of a city should be able to equip them etc etc....

*nods*
If the current ruling clan is allowed to equip them, they should also be getting the defender bonus, but the ruling clan wouldn't be able to use them to boost their own wincount.
If there is no ruling clan, they get newbie gear because there's noone around to outfit them ^^;

NPCs will be back in v3. I have a plan for them, but I think I'll keep it a bit underwraps for now. I will say that it's my hopes that adding them will not only make it possible for clans to take over cities that are sparsely occupied, but also add incentives for people to travel.

Tim u should add trollocs but only where u would find them in the books. like around the borderlands. u know unless of course having too many times will mess up the server.

Trollocs in the Borderlands, Darkfriends everywhere else. Should work for me...

that is a pretty cool idea to add trollocs but you could throw in some shadowspawn too...while trollocs are pervasive in the borderlands shadowspawn could show up anywhere...like a grayman or two in tar valon or maybe a trolloc raid of edmonds field...they have showed up in many places. Another could be some shaido aiel making their way through the land or some black ajah sisters every once in a while...the options are limitless in the context of the game

Yup, true. No canon characters around in that era, though the Blight had started to expand again and the Borderlands should be seeing Trolloc raids on a fairly regular basis. Darkfriends have always been around. The Whitecloaks however became a military organisation around that time, they don't really have a lot of power yet as it'd take them another 900 years to set up the Fortress of Light in Amadicia. Just in case you wanted to mention them in your backstory [/randomtrivia]

Well, I was mentioning it because a trolloc raid in Emond's Field would be unlikely, or anywhere outside of the Borderlands for that matter. at least for another 1000 years.
