As a total newb to this game (I started just today), I think it would benefit from some documentation. Just a simple tutorial of sorts to instruct new users how things like the skill tree, clans, ownership of towns, etc. work. I spent a good deal of time today putzing around, and while I figured out a lot there is still a lot that perplexes me. I even dug around this forum and didn't find a lot of help on certain issues. This seriously turns off more casual gamers, and I think that people will be more likely to stick around and play more if there was a simple way for them to find out more about the game's mechanics.

I agree. I think this sounds like a perfect job for some of our more experienced players. I'd do it, but I fear the complaints I'd get for slacking on the coding side. Besides, it'd give you guys something to do while you're waiting for more battles. Other than creating alts.
I'll even make it worth your wild. Not sure how yet, but lets just say I will need SOME testers for V2. Plus with the forum growing like it is, we may have need for some moderators around here... Never too early to earn some brownie points. ;D

I can't code, and I don't know enough about the game to write documentation myself, but I'm an excellent editor and proofreader, so if this goes forward and you want to run text by me, I'd be happy to make sure it's in good, proper English.

I'm violently allergic to wikipedia, so all wikis give me a rash (although I can almost accept the idea of a personal wiki since noone else could touch it), and I'm therefore not going to volunteer to set one up for the game. If I have time over the weekend, though, I could probably write a little "intro to the game" document. If anyone has kept the message you get when you start that links to the overview, could you send me the link to that overview. I haven't read it lately, but I'd guess that it's pretty outdated? If noone has it, I'll create a new character, but it seems a silly reason for a new char... Although, I do have an avatar I'd love to use... Hmmm...
Edit: I'll only do this if you promise to not even think about making a moderator out of me!

The overview is here . Some topics I would suggest for documentation are: - A brief explanation of Talismans and how they are used.
- An overview of clans, their benefits, how to join and how they operate.
- How experience and leveling work.
- The banking system (and how much money you're not allowed to bank).
- Caching items.
- Travel.
- If there are classes, which some of the discussion on this board seems to indicate that there are, how that works.
- How skills work, especially how they relate to battle.
A quick explanation of those things will save new players a lot of time and frustration when they first join the game. I'm sure there are others that I haven't even discovered yet, but as someone new I think that's a good place to start.

OK, this is horrible! I started a wiki site, but can someone please build the skeleton? You know, put up the headlines for the various bits? I'll be happy to write the actual pages, and add little screenshots, and I could even add headings then, but to start building the structure is just much too organised for me! I've set the space as private for now, since there's nothing on it, but if you message me with your email address, I'll invite you to it, and hope that I'll manage to give you the right permissions... lol
(Just to illustrate exactly how horrible this was to me, I can tell you that I got as far as this before I gave up: Help Site for Game of Stones Getting Started)

Oooh, I didn't have history! I have a lot more than you do, though, I realised last night that I'll have to limit things... I'll have a look at this for grouping the headings together...
(eww, those [[ really make my eyes spin!)

I'll tweak things a little more, and then release it so you can all go to it. I might have to remove the discoball logo first, though ;D

OK, a very small beginning is up at goshelpsite.wikispaces.com/. I'm too tired now to do more with it, or to work with layouts or anything like that... So I hope you'll all forgive me for the sad state it's in! The logo is pretty, though ;D (I didn't have a GoS logo that would fit 150x150, so I decided to go with something else for now...) Tim, I'll let you decide if the page should be open to anyone for editing, or if it should be by members of the site only. Right now, only members of the site can edit it, and I'm the only member... Anyone can view it, though.

I'd say go ahead and make it open to all to edit for now. Hopefully everyone here will be respectful to it.

The page is better now than it was last Sunday, although there is still a lot to be added. For those who have avoided returning because of the logo from last weekend, I changed it earlier this week Editing is pretty easy, and you don't even need to register an account there to edit. If you do, however, I can invite you to be members of the space (and people will see that it was you who made the edits!). There are some short tutorials on how to edit the space, and you will find them here: www.wikispaces.com/site/tourIf there is something you want to know about, either ask here for that info to be added, or just add a page on the wiki for that subject, and write that you want that info. I don't have too much spare time at the moment, so it would be great to know what to do first And should be the same for anyone else who does updates, I guess. Last but not least, feel free to change what I have written there if I didn't get it right. I cannot believe that I got everything I put there right, or that you can't find anything to add to it, so go change my edits!
