Not that this is something that occurs very often, but every now and then a function to delete your character would be very welcome. As it is now, the best you can hope for if you actually want to quit is that there will be a reset soonish. Of course, this function needs to be made so that you won't just accidentally click on a button and find your char gone... But say that you click on the button, are asked to confirm with your password that you really want to delete the character, and voilĂ ! Character gone!

I second this. I think you used to be able to delete your characters in the way Tintomara suggested, but i could be making that up completely

Ok. Quick question though. What would the benefit be for deleting a character as opposed to just leaving it sit there as an inactive target for other? The reason this option wasn't added was in case someone got ahold of your password they couldn't delete your account. If you all think there's a big benefit to putting this in, then I'll probably do it.

Well, I agree that that would be a risk, but we'd simply have to guard our passwords to make sure that didn't happen. The benefit would be partly to reduce the dupes, since if you start a char and then are unhappy with how it turned out, you can actually delete it and start a new one. The main benefit as I see it, though, is when you really want to quit. It's soooo much more difficult if the character is still there, and you could still log on to it, "just to see". There have been times when I've really wanted to quit, and that would have worked a lot better if little Althea hadn't still been there.
Keeping hacking in mind, though, it would probably be a good idea if deleting a character didn't completely wipe it out of your databases, but instead put it in an inactive status or something, so that if there was foul play behind the deletion, there wouldn't be too much work for you to help the poor victim get their char back.
Another drawback (might as well write it, since it occured to me...) would be that there would most likely be a little fewer of the low level "practise" targets around for those who start late. The inactive accounts are very useful for that... Then again, I guess most new people who start and quit probably wouldn't use the delete option, but just abandon their char (maybe you can hide the function somewhere, so you have to know it's there to find it! lol)

Lol I agree but there is always little security things such as the recovory question where you would need to put that answer int to delete it as it's obvious they have your pass if they are on your account doh! That or when you put in the answer to the security question send an email to the accounts email to verify they want this done. If your smart your paranoid like I and have umm...1,2,3, Ah four passwords for your stuff. Sure I use one of them mainly but thats cause it's long as hell, random jumbly of letters and numbers, and near impossible to guess unless you know me XD just something like that would work I think.
