In other words, have people heal throughout the battle at a fixed rate, but with possible health gain adding points? Sounds good to me. Also, it would be nice to have health not be based on level so much, although I'm not sure eliminating varying amounts would do it. Perhaps, if we had the amount of health one has be based more on skills, or else have it need to be bought (using Skill Points?) separately....

This method may allow for variations in the Character types better too; ie. Aes Sedai vs. Ogier vs. Aiel....

Oooh, I just thought of an interesting addition to this! Not sure if it's good or bad, though. It would really make me frustrated if I had a short time to do my battles...
What that idea was? OK, fine, if you want the idea before I do the pros and cons... In addition to switching the lowest you drop to 1, so that you don't die completely, just get very, very close to dying, maybe there should be an addition so that if you did drop too far in health during a battle (I'm thinking if you drop all the way down to 1), you will need to recuperate a little bit before you can attack someone again. That time shouldn't be too long, or it will just be a nightmare for those with limited game time, but a few minutes would make sense, at least. There could possibly be some way to recuperate faster, either by a bought item, or a random drop. This could also be a characteristic that varies between different classes once they get implemented. I.e. warders could have a shorter time, since they are likely to have a healer close by, but someone in no way connected to the one power would have a longer time. It becomes another variable to use for balancing the different classes, but not one that is decisive for the outcome of a battle.
Oh, this should only kick in if you drop that low when you yourself attack. Otherwise there would be the possibility that some higher level bullies could prevent a weaker person from attacking by taking turns knocking that person down in battles. Sure, they wouldn't gain exp, but I can imagine that some people could enjoy that enough to not care about levelling...
I should add something about the original idea of a set health. I love it! And I think that it should be high enough that at the lower levels, it will just seem like we're scratching the surface. After all, when we start out at lvl 1, it makes sense that we can't kill the opponents (even if they are equally bad as us). We might manage a lucky slash with the stone knife that will hurt more than a bruise, but that's pretty much it. And as we grow stronger, and aquire better weapons, we will be able to dig deeper and deeper into the other person's health. One-hit kills should not be possible until we've levelled high enough to have the best gear possible, if you ask me.

Or the best skills possible, Tinto. All in all I think that's a brilliant idea (and very similar to one I and Maric Dagar proposed about a year-and-a-half-ago), although it might overlap with the idea of stamina..... Which reminds me, was there ever a decision made on the stamina issue?

I'm not sure I like the idea of health being a fixed entity. I like the idea of it being able to grow with your character. With character classes coming, I was planning on health being different based on your class. Keeping it static just doesn't make sense to me. While this would lower the number of one hit kills, there are other ways to deal with this that I think add more to the game.
As for stamina, not sure if anything's been decided so to speak, but I'm working to try to find some logical way of working it in. Feel free to start a new topic if you have an idea for it.
