You're telling me - I'm a history buff, but anything above Geometry just annoys the heck out of me.

This would be a lot easier if one of us were actually writing the game, or making the decisions.
I have no idea what Tim want's to do. Or if after another month he'll just get bored of it like Craig and move on to something else.

Hey - don't get all excited, Secon. Trust me, Tim is not going to get bored - he's been playing GoS for as long as I have (that's 3+ years now, I think) and he's a stand-up guy. Although, now that you come to mention it, this discussion IS kind of pointless without Tim here... Oh, well, I need to go to bed now. Keep up the good work - and don't get discouraged. Tim will have everything up and running in no time....

Yeah, best let the forums rest a bit now. Night.

Wow. Three pages of replies here. Took me a while, but I got through it all. Elemental damage: No, doesn't really fit in the WoT world except for channeling. Fire is the only one that sorta makes sense (flaming arrows maybe?), but even that's a stretch. I think perhaps fire will be going away from talismen when I start digging into it. Or at least be renamed. Agility/Speed/etc: I agree that agility right now is poorly named. My plan (especially after all the talk about it lately) is to add a speed stat for players that effects order of attack (who goes first, chance of double attack, etc). Not sure if about making all equipment effect it, but some types would be naturally quicker (daggers faster than axes, etc). This wouldn't mean the person with the faster weapon stat automatically goes first, just that they have a better chance of going first (think initiative in DnD). Two-handed stuff: I do like the idea of making certain things two handed. Adds a lot more customization to weapon layout. Might be a balancing nightmare, but not much more than any of the other changes I'll be making. I'll guarantee you that there will be a while where some combinations outshine others. It will take a lot of fine tuning, but I'm expecting that. Helmets, Boots, and gloves: Will consider these. My only issue would be this is 3 more things you could add Talismen too, doubling the talismen you'd use. Plus it be even more expensive to upgrade (though that's not necessarily a bad thing). Worth looking into though. I'm pretty sure I missed something in there, so let me know if I missed something. No promises that I won't stop with this someday, but I don't see that happening for the forseeable future. There will be breaks for sure, as I do actually have a life (despite what's commonly believed ). Oh, and you guys are lucky. I've actually got a Math Minor (it was only like 4 more classes with my Computer Science Major), so I can handle the math stuff.

Just a quick note on the Helemts, Boots, and Gloves.
My personal thoughts on those is that it would not be possible to add talismans to them, and you could only get them from the town store. And should probably come in 2 or more different flavors. One pair focusing more on defense, the other pair more towards some form of offense.

Praise the Lord, Tim - that was one long discussion. You seem to have covered all the bases - as I recall them.... If we do have Helmets, boots & gloves, maybe they won't be customizable? That would simplify things a little...

Ooh, I like that, Secon.
And I guess great minds think alike - eh?

That might very well be the case, Hugh. Not to make too much out of what was, after all, just a passing remark but... www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp - Myers-Briggs typology test. Personally, I'm an INTP. As for the on-topic part of this post.. I forgot that while looking for the url. =/ Edit: I remember now. The reason why I personally want more equipment slots, and added gradually, is because I prefer the milestone approach to game play. And extra equipment slots would both give the player something more to look forward to, and separate the different levels more. This also delays any sense of perfection one might have about ones character. ("Gee golly, I have such brilliant gear and I beat people easily, but gosh darnit I need my Helmet!")

Hmmm. I'm an ESTJ (or Guardian) according to the test. Pretty consistent with what people generally say about me. Interesting point about equipment slots, and diametrically opposed to my philosophy of gaming, oddly enough. Personally, I've always favored basing everything upon character development, and downplaying weapon changes as much as possible - basically making it so you can have the exact same weapons for your entire lifetime. It's odd that we would've come to the same conclusions....

Guardian you say, hm. I found it spookey how accurately INTP, or Architect, describes myself. I wonder what Tim is... Hint hint.
I think you would agree that within a game such as this, keeping the same weapons for your entire lifetime would turn the game inte nothing but pushing the attack button.

Ok. Ok. Sorta funny, but I'm INTP too. Which is good because it says I should get a job in computer programming.
