Hi all!
I think the game needs a bit more communication.
One good way would be to allow you to send a message to other clans. They could show up in the Clan chat - but obviously would need to be displayed in a way to show they are a one-way message from someone outside your clan. Maybe something like Name@ClanName and a different color.
Not sure about interface, maybe just another text input box with a pulldown to select clan? Maybe in another tab on the clan page?
Some nifty things you could do with this: - Taunt enemy clans - Ask ally clans for help in an area - Tell an ally about a horde attack - Tell ally clans about clan quests against mutual enemies - Tell ally clans about your current plans or new allies - Taunt enemy clans :)
I like the idea of letting anyone send messages, but I suppose it could be limited to the clan leader/sub-leaders (I really doubt people would abuse it too much - it will just get them targeted).

I kinda like this idea. I think everyone should be allowed to use it also, but let Leaders and Subs block messages from people who are abusing it or just would rather not see their own chat filled up with non-clan member messages.
Perhaps even give it it's own spot or tab on the clan page. Status, Towns, Clan Messages, Settings.

Aid requests and the like have always been funneled through clan leaders via private messages, and that allows leaders to make the call on whether to help or not, depending on their own action plans for their clan. PMs to online members of ally clans have traditionally taken care of other, more immediate needs. Personally, I think I do see this getting abused. And, wouldn't this kind of kill Tel'aran'rhiod chat? That's where the best taunting has always taken place - where everyone can enjoy it.

It would also allow requests for town stores to be restocked. In theory, everyone that has the ability to stock the store would see the message (town manager, leader and subs). I really think there are plenty of things to say to a specific clan that would seem like spamming on the main chat. And if you tell your allies to only send help requests through the leaders and they send it to the clan directly - well there's one more thing to start a war about More (and faster) communication options enhance this type of environment IMHO. Sending a clan a message saying "Hey guys you're only 50 Ji from taking control in xx city - anyone want to join me in stomping our mutual enemies?" is totally different than a structured action plan / strategy discussed between the clan leaders. I think they both have their place - but right now only one is really possible without using the main chat (which nobody does, because that feels like the wrong place to do it). As for abuse issues - one (probably) easy thing to do would be to have four modes - no outside messages - allow allies messages - allow allies and neutral messages - allow anyone's messages And if you try to send a message to a clan that doesn't allow it - of course it should give a useful error message like "The Clan killed your messenger and sent his head to you in a box with your message unread" -bn
