Now that I've covered terrain and NPC types, I can much better talk about a slightly bigger addition: character nationalities!
Since I talked about Aiel in my example, might as well add the info about Aiel.
Each of the 12 nationalities is unique. Some of their strengths and weaknesses may not make perfect sense from a book stand point, but I tried to make them fit the best I could. Only 2 nations are favored/unfavored for each terrain/npc type, so you think it might make more sense for a certain nation to be favored in a certain terrain, it's likely that there were 2 other nations that I thought made more sense.
A couple questions you might be thinking right now:
1) But there are more than 12 nation? What if I want my character to be from Nation X and Nation X isn't an option? Well, all I can say is sorry. I tried to add those that I guessed would be more popular, but I know some of you will likely end up disappointed. You'll just have to choose the one that fits best for now and hope I decide to add more in future versions. 12 just worked best and I figured that offered a good amount of choices.
2) Wait a sec! Aiel is a class! Do I have to be of Aiel nationality to be an Aiel class? Wouldn't that make me an Aiel Aiel? I'm confused... All I can say here is Read And Find Out to that one. I've accounted for that, but can't say more without giving too much away.
Nationality:
At the time of character creation, the player must select their characters nation of origin from the list of nations available. As of V5, there are 12 nations available to choose from:
(list to be added)
Your characters nationality determines your favored terrain type, your favored opponent, you unfavored opponent, as well as your default avatar. Some nationalities also have some unique restrictions or bonus features. For example, characters who select "Aiel" as their nationality cannot use swords. They also cannot become Wolfkin. However, there are certain classes that are only available to characters who are Aiel, such as... (list of Aiel only to be added). Most nationalities do not have such restrictions, though neither do they have bonuses to balance them out.
