Today I'll talk about Stamina. Now a few of you who've been around too dang long like I have might remember stamina from the very early versions of GoS. Well it's coming back, all be it modified in order to mesh with the new changes and serve more of a purpose.
Stamina represents how worn out and tired your character is. It acts sorta like a second, overall health bar. Everyone will start out with a relatively small max stamina (10 probably), which will increase as you level up (probably 1 per level). Battling will cause your stamina to decrease, specifically when you lose (specific numbers still being toyed with). Note that your stamina will decrease from battles even when defending (hey look! Attacking someone actually effects them!). Traveling will also use stamina.
Stamina will recover slowly as time passes. Every hour your characters stamina will increase by 1 if your in a wilderness area or 2 if your in a town (more comfortable to rest in a town). There are other things you can do to recover your stamina, but I'll save those for a later day.
So I suppose you're thinking, "Oh no. My stamina's going down. What difference does it make?" Well, first off, you can't battle/explore if your stamina is 0%. Also, your travel speed is reduced as if you have no mount. Finally, (and perhaps most dramatic) as your stamina gets low, you start getting negative effects added to your stats during battles. Tentatively, I'm thinking:
- 60% stamina or below: -10% def
- 40% stamina or below: -10% dmg
- 20% stamina or below: -1 dodge, -1 accuracy
- 0% stamina: -1 speed
Note that the effects stack, so at 0% you'd have all the above negatives. That may be a bit harsh though, so I may scale it back after doing some more testing.
More to come on stamina at a later date.
