Admittedly I haven't read any of Sanderson's work yet (in the middle of a WoT re-read before TGS comes out), but have heard good things and plan to read something of his (time permitting) before November.

I finished that book 2 days ago. It is actually fairly good. You can download a free PDF of it from his website (dont remember the link, just google it). I have so far read all of his books. They are not really that bad. Elantris, his first book drags on a bit, but then his Mistborn series and Warbreaker really improve. I do suggest you read at least Warbreaker
