I'll try explaining it The more speed you have, the more likely you are to get to attack two or more times in a row, without letting the other one hit you. And it could let you start the battle, even if you are the one being attacked, which is an advantage. Stun takes away speed from the other person, so they are less likely to double attack you. I think I know what's going on with the bank. As soon as you have enough gold that your total would go up to the next kind of money, in my case yesterday from copper to silver, it ignores the lower grade coins and only cares about the higher ones. And I didn't have a silver coin to put in there, but when I put as many coppers as I could in, I had one silver and 7 copper or something. And now when I get money, it will show me the amount of silver I'm allowed to bank, but ignores the copper. I can still put the copper in, the game calculates the 20% correctly, it's just the display that only shows one kind of money

I know I'm a little late, but I just wanted to say I LOVE it! Kudos to you, Tim. You've made a really enjoyable, challenging and intriguing game.
Keep up the good work!

I didn't play the beta or anything , and just registered in the real version .......
my initial impressions
1) you need to seed each town with a few lvl 1s , a couple lvl 3 or 4s and maybe a couple lvl 6s. It is extremely annoying having to travel all over the world just to find a few people to attack.
2) I think at the lower levels, maybe lvl 5 and under you should get an item drop whether you win or lose. So far i've attacked about 6 or 7 times and only won twice ....... makes it impossible to improve anything.

Maybe this was/is a mistake on my part. However, this issue will be resolved in v3. Doh! Someone else suggested this and I meant to do it, but guess it slipped off my radar at some point. I felt the pain of this last night as well (I only won 1 of my first ten battle :S). All I can say is that everyone else was in the same boat, and this too should be resolved by some of the v3 changes.

Remembers who it was that suggested this... And there'd better be someone below lvl 5 around when I register after work tonight! *looks around menacingly to make everyone create Tintomara-fodder*

Also Tim I have been away a long time and see there is a ton of threads don't really have time to read through them all ......... but i really don't get this item system and the battle system ..... i'll give a couple examples
i'm level 4 , i attacked someone level 3 .......... I did between 1-2 points on every hit ........ out of 6 attacks they did no damage to me at all on 4 of them ...... on the other 2 they did 6 and 7 points and therefore beat me. I don't see how there could be that much of a gap between doing no damage almost 70% of the time and then when they do hit doing extreme damage.
As far as the items , i'm level 4 and even using basic talismans it seems like it takes over 60% of my point allowance. The only upgraded items i've been able to use so far are broken items
Really confused :S

It takes awhile before you can use better items. The points get used up fast, but he did it with an eye for making the game enjoyable beyond level 40 or so. Some talis, like shadows or slayer or thugs, can be used at lower levels, and they still help. You cannot radically adjust the outcome of the battles with the talis, anyway, which opens the game up to different strategies. For example, if you use dodge, you will receive more glancing blows and fewer respectable hits, but you will still get clocked a lot. If you use stun, you will get some double or triple hits in, but not every time, and it will not guarantee a victory. At low levels, poison is cool. Taint is expensive at this level (heck, I think taint is kind of expensive period), but some of the weaker poison talis can be handy. I think the way the battles work is largely based on the "to hit" portion of it. Perhaps your opponents have spent the first 4 attacks only getting a little piece of your bad, nimble self, but they got a clean shot or two off at the end, and there's the difference. If you had been dealing more damage, they would have died before they got the lucky hit in on you, or if you had better defense, that lucky hit wouldn't have killed you, or if you were dodgier, they would not land the hit, or if you were quicker, they would not have the chance to hit, or... Hang in there; I think you'll like this a lot better, I really do.

I don't see how there could be that much of a gap between doing no damage almost 70% of the time and then when they do hit doing extreme damage. Brief answer: The new stats of accuracy and dodge attribute to how well your opponent hits. The better you accuracy, the more likely you are to do a critical hit (up to 175% damage). The better your dodge, the more likely you opponent is to miss you or nearly miss you (as low as 0% damage received). Of course the extremes have a low probablity unless you raise your attack or dodge, but still could happen. Could be your opponent missed you (or did a low percent of damage you were able to block) on 4 of the attack and then did a strong or critical hit for the other 2. Gaining equip points is a gradual process. Unlike previous versions where you had to upgrade every few duels at lower levels then waiting days between upgrading at higher levels (or not upgrading at all once you hit about level 50), the new system is meant to lengthen the amount of time each item is useful. I know of some people that were effectively using bone knives at level 20 or even higher on the test site. At low levels (under 5 especally) there aren't a lot of options, true, but as you steadily grow in points the options open up fairly wide. Here's a link to a tread that explains a lot of the new stats and what they do in better detail: gosos.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=newb&action=display&thread=410

One other observation ......... evidently items that can't be used at a current level are in red.
1) Why can't i use an item if i am willing to use all my point allowance on using 1 item instead of 3 ?
3) If there is a level requirement as well as point requirement why doesn't the item display it's level requirement ? All I know is it is red ....... don't know when it will stop being red

All I know is it is red ....... don't know when it will stop being red You cannot use any single item that uses more than 2/3rds of your points. The reason for this is to close a loophole of sorts in the way stats are calculated. Don't want to really get into it, as you can still do this to some extent anyways, but it's there to prevent abuse. EDIT: The wiki is also a good source of general info as well, though it isn't completely up to date for v2 yet, obviously. goshelpsite.wikispaces.com/
