Debated about creating this thread before the test site is open to all, but wanted to get feedback from donors early to give me time to adjust things if needed and sometimes T'A'R is hard to post full thoughts on. (NOTE to donors: Please don't spill the address of the site though until it is open to all).
What are your first impressions on the site? Layout, colors, navigation, etc. Please be honest. I'm very open to changing things up if people feel strongly about something, but can't do it if I don't hear about it.
Go Team!

OK, now that I've played with it a bit, here's my first impressions. What I like: Traveling from ANY page! Woohoo! It does seem a bit easier to use on my phone, though I've admittedly only toyed with it, and haven't actually tried to do anything. What I don't like: I'm going to have to go through every page on the wiki and remove all references to the old Icons... Curse you Tim! I miss being able to look any given character's win % by looking at their profile. Not sure if that just hasn't been added though. I think I prefer the old way T'A'R was, with the pop-out different sized window. Just making it its own tab, then clicking on someone's name to look at their profile, then opening another one for T'A'R, rinse/repeat etc gets to have too many tabs open. Then I get to killing them all and end up accidentally killing the first draft of this post and have to rewrite it all. Things I think could be better: (or Things that just annoy me slightly, but I can live with them.) The colors are nice, but I feel they're too bright. Anyway to get darker tones? I've been noticing a clash with all Ed's graphics. Take T'A'R for instance, Ed's dark and groovy vine wrap thingy, then BAM! Bright colors everywhere inside. All the clan flags and stuff just don't seem to fit anymore. We either need to brighten them or darken the new stuff. Another example of too bright: Messages. Dat ORANGE. If you haven't already, send a message, then flip back and forth between Outbox and Compose for a few seconds, you'll see what I mean. On the Heroes page, the ally flag is a little hard to see on that blue. (Also, why is the Heroes page under the Messages menu? Shouldn't it be part of the World menu?) I also wish some things were a bit more uniform. Instead of having every button be different colors, things that go together should be the same color. For example, instead of having 4 colors for the bank, then three other colors for the other boxes on the city page, what if the bank ones were all a nice dark shade of red so there's only 4 different colors? I know I had a couple other things I wanted to hit on, but can't remember them at this time. Will post them later if I remember them. On the whole, I'd say I like the change so far.

I'm going to have to go through every page on the wiki and remove all references to the old Icons... Curse you Tim! Ha. Were there really that many spots that talked about icons? My plan was to add a FULL stats tab to Achievements page. Everything that was on the bio page, plus a ton others. Figured it would fit better there. Didn't think about the fact that you wouldn't be able to see them for others. Will have to think on it. I will be adding the tab somewhere... I have Firefox set up to open popups in new tabs anyways, so I rarely had a small window for chat anyways so I didn't think much of it. That said, I figured this way you COULD click on profiles from chat and get a usable window instead of the small one. Thought it would be an improvement this way... Agreed that they are a little too bright. They came from a premade theme I used as a starting point. I plan to dial them down a little bit. Ed was in a panic when he first saw them too thinking he'd have to redo ALL his images. I'd rather make the colors match the images for now than have to go through and replace all the images. Agreed. Orange seemed okay testing when I just had one message, but looking at the wall of orange that is the achievements page and it's a little extreme. Didn't look at it with the flags. Agreed. As for the Heroes page, it doesn't really fit with any of the menus. I had it on the World, then moved it to messages just to balance the menu length out, but I could be talked into moving it back to world if that's the consensus that's where it should go. I know I went a little crazy on mixing up the colors on the early pages I did (Profile, World, and Inventory were some of my first ones and I think it shows). Will probably need to make a second pass on most pages just to refine things and tone it down.

I'm going to have to go through every page on the wiki and remove all references to the old Icons... Curse you Tim! Ha. Were there really that many spots that talked about icons? Not a ton of them, but enough that I'll have to read EVERY page again. I was going to do that anyway though... SWEET! I like more stats. You can the other way too. Just click maximize after it and it's a new window. Doesn't work in IE though, so this is prolly better in the long run. I'll just suck it up and start opening it up in a new window on my own. I've finally got my desktop puter working again, and I rock dual monitors, so it's nice to have the chat off to the side while I'm playing. I definitely see the potential you were talking about with Themes. Like a Shadow Theme with reds and grays as the primary colors and a light theme, with other colors, and a Silver Legion theme with Blues and Grays... Just throwing that out there. >

Late to the party, but I agree with KR on the colors. A bit too bright. Also I hated that TAR opened in it's own window, so I like it better now Gonna try to mess around a bit more when I get time, but I think this is gonna be much better when I get used to it.

I second what dahillia said. I used it a bit no my phone, and the nav menu is extremely helpful. I feel like it would be even more useful if the "location" had it's own tab, instead of being under 'World' although it makes a lot of sense inside the world tab. I'm suggesting this, because then maybe we could make it so that when you click on Caemlyn you could find links to outfitter, blacksmith and all that stuff. (and maybe inside a wilderness you could have quick access to explore, hunt and horde if available, and estates). I find that when i'm in a city (lets say caemlyn) then I'm usually there to accomplish multiple things at the same time between venture to the wilderness. I find it so convenient to be able to travel from anywhere, that it's a little frustrating (a little mind) to have to click on world, and then caemlyn just to move on to the next item on my checklist (like blacksmith, etc.) before setting back out again.
Other than that, it works pretty well on mobile although I did notice that stuff like upgrading skills or especially combining TAs is a little confusing at first. I understand that a second UI pass is upcoming?

Second Impressions: So, I just dumped close to 400 turns with my two characters, and did all the other activities that go with that. I noticed quite a few more things and wanted to get them down while they're fresh in my mind. More Things I like: I'm really excited about the new colors for different items in the clan vault. I like that I get a notification when I have a new profession point! I like that the clan office items for shops are separated. One More Thing I don't Like: When buying items in shops, I now have to click "Yes" instead of just buying. That will really screw with me when I'm doing my item quest purchasing. (Unless refreshing will bypass it, then I won't mind as much. Didn't check to see if it did or not.) Things I think could be better: I agree with the others that mentioned having a "Local" type menu in addition to the "World" menu. Though it would be much longer than the others for sure. It just feels like the navigation is all slick and smooth, until you go to a city. About the items in the clan office, could we maybe get a bracket or something around each group, just to further separate them? I know, I know, you work hard and give us stuff we've asked for and we're just never satisfied. The Battle Page. Without Ed's cool graphics on the battle box, I think it would be better to drop the background paper graphic too. I just think there would be a better background for reading on and matching the new battle box. Especially on a larger screen, the current background is a little blurry. The Wise Woman's page. I think this is what Rhael is talking about. On my phone, it's not quite formatting right. It's got the picture of the broad, then it says, "Select an item", then "Select an item", then says, "Combine Ter'angreal with an Item!", then has the boxes that you actually select from and repeats the same messages. On a non-mobile device, I see the reason for it, kind of a little intro to combining, but it is confusing on the mobile form. In addition, on my laptop and desktop, the drop-down boxes you pick an item from are nice and big, but when you click on them, the options to pick from are freakin tiny. On the profile page, the Messages and Defense Log numbers always make me think I have a new one there. I don't know, maybe it's just become a conditioned response with me now, but seeing a white halo around the number there makes me think new message. Every time. I wasn't going to complain about it, but I thought of something we could do with it. Could we hollow it out and just have the number when you've read all the new messages, and have the white halo show up when there's a new one? The other alert system is sufficient though, so this does seem a little redundant. I just hate feeling like Pavlov's dog every time I see the profile page. The little pop up info stuff. I like how it is, but it also annoys me a little that they don't go away unless I click the thing again. It would be nice if they just disappeared when I clicked on something else on the page. For example, on the inventory page, you click on an item, get the info pop up, it then stays there even if I'm clicking all the check boxes to sell stuff. I just want it to disappear on it's own, is that so wrong? It just feels a little tedious to have to click something to close it. You know, like we always used to have to do with the old pop ups. We're better than that now though. That's all I've got for now.

k the real Rhael Chaerdon here (lol a little mistake with my friend).
So I have been absent from GoS for a bit so this is all new to me.
A few comments:
Like many of the flat web design changes like the buttons on the city screen. However, the menu on the top is not really user friendly. - The forum, wiki, logout thing is perfect because they are things which are not as interactive (i.e. users don't use those buttons as much) and are less important and look as if they always belonged there. The items on the left, however, are fairly complicated to use and a slight remedy would be nice.
A suggestion: Why not bring the static health, turn use, money, etc. bar up to the top menu -> these are not interactive (stay static) and therefore can be put off to the side like the Forum/Wiki/Logout options. Then, perhaps bring back one or two of the current top-menu options back to their original spots to make it more intuitive and easier to use (ex. travel, world or something like that).
