After watching how the LB played out so far this age, I'm fairly happy with how it's gone. Other than the obvious glitches that occurred, of course (I have a fix for that already coded). However, the first 3 phases really didn't play that big of a role in the final outcome of the battle. Other than saving their own cities, the Light really didn't have much motivation into fighting off the hordes and other than making it harder for the Light to save their cities, the Shadow didn't have much reason to fight the armies. So here's my plan to mix things up again next time.
First off, drop Phase 4. Instead of having a 'clan battle' at the end of the fighting, we'll have the Light vs Shadow ‘clan battle’ run throughout all of Phases 1 through 3. The Clan Battle would for 7 days, beginning the same time as Phase 1 does and run until 30 hours after Phase 3 is over.
Now, as things stand it would be foolish for anyone to waste points on hordes as horde battles don’t earn CB points and the rewards are way too low. So I'll be adding some incentives. At the end of each Phase, the following points will be awarded:
* +1000 points to the Light for each horde defeated
* +750 points to the Shadow for each army defeated
* +750 points to the Shadow for each city destroyed by hordes
While it may seem like that favors the Shadow, keep in mind that a city can only be destroyed once, while hordes can be destroyed multiple times. I'm hoping it keeps itself pretty balanced, but we'll have to try things out. Numbers would need tweaked in general, depending on how many points on average players are earning from duels and NPCs. Needs to be worth the effort to fight each horde/army and less need to save turns and wait. If you have turns to burn, run them as duels or NPCs at any time and count towards the final battle. If you don't have any good duel targets at your level, then you can spend your battles on the hordes and still contribute to the cause in an important way.
There would be starting points awarded still for which side has certain accomplishments (more members, certain titles, etc), as well as initial points for whether the rulers of cities are Light/Shadow/Neutral going into the LB. Still need to figure out what all those accomplishments and their points are.
