An often under utilized type of messages is trades. Trades allow direct transfer of items to other players for a chosen amount of coin. I think that trades might be used more if they had more visibility. Currently you have to go to the other player's bio to click the send trade link, then fill out the form on the new page, which takes you back to the messages page. Kinda easy to miss if you don't know where it is.
So I'm moving trades. The link will still stay on the other player's Profile page, but Trade will now have it's own tab on the messages page. Like the Compose tab, you'll be able to pick who the trade offer's to, and then have the normal form for setting up the trade.
There is one other change though related to trades. A lot of the current trading is players funneling items and coin between their alts with another kind player acting as the intermediary. In the past, I've let this slide for items as it was really hard to track this kind of behavior with how message were stored. Coin transfers I still tried to stop, but it was a grey line that was not well defined. So I'm fixing that.
Item transfers between alts directly are still prevented by code. Transfer between alts using another player as a go between is now officially against the rules, whether for items or for gold. The new database means I'll easily be able to see what's going on with trades, so I can enforce that now. And just to make it harder for those who try to skirt the rules, I'm limiting the amount of coin you can trade (or Market) an item for to 20g. I don't think that should be a problem for legit trades, as I think you'd be hard pressed to find buyers for even the hardest to find Ter'angreal at more than 20g. Maybe late in the game some would pay more, but we don't need to be greedy here.
P.S. The trade form will default to 1 cp.
