Things bogged down and quit responding about 11:15 EST, browser progress bar typically stalling about 90%, got one "can't establish a connection to the server at gos.talij.com" eventually, and got this on one attempt to load T'A'R chat:
"Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /home/talijc5/public_html/gosv8/admin/connect.php on line 4
Could not connect to the MySQL database. Please try again in a few minutes."
actually thought to copy error text this time, although it's most likely a server load problem
11:40 - going straight to "can't establish a connection" now...
11:50 - back to stalled load progress. able to load home page, very sluggishly, in another browser, but all logged-in loads stall. could this mean that it's the database access that's choked off and stalling the page load?
12:30 - still choked

Grr. Sorry all! I'll try to take a look at it. Guessing it's another issue with my host. They were so good the first year or two, but lately they've been quite sucky.  |

it was still choked just before 1:00, got busy and just now checking in again, so not sure when it straightened out. I was accessing anything else on the 'net with no problem, so (this time, at least) it wasn't just me...

seem to be having a repeat performance today -
11:50 EST - "can't establish connection"
12:00 EST - login page loads, but login stalls indefinitely
12:15 - won't load login page - after extensive blank-page stall, "connection to server was reset... network link interrupted while negotiating a connection"
12:30 - 2min+ stall during login page load, only blank white page displayed, eventually "completed" page load still with blank page and "http://gos.talij.com/bio.php?autologin=1322587759" in address bar
1:30 - working again, not sure when it revived within last hour

It seems to be back now, but pretty sluggish. Will be trying to contact the host tonite about it's flakiness lately. Sorry all!

Updated:
Things have still been flaky the last few days. Talked to the host again and they are going to move the site to one of their brand new servers. Hopefully that should fix the problem for good. Not sure if we'll see any downtime from the move. Hopefully not.

things have been pretty smooth for me. i installed the latest ubuntu os on my computer (had win7) and theres still no probs

Again, things got a little sluggish after 11:30am (EST), and finally choked down to mySQL errors just after noon...
before it went to just white page with error message(s), I did get one weird one:
A series of 66 mySQL error messages, followed by most of the html elements of the World page with two additional error messages within the page frame (lines 94 and 102).
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/talijc5/public_html/gosv8/admin/locFuncs.php on line...
line numbers 83, 187, 224, 557, and 812, 818, 301, 314. The errors between these two groups alternate between line 568 and line 571 for the remaining 58 errors.
again, looks like it's database access that keeps getting fouled, so I doubt these error lines are of much use, but - just in case...
