All this talk of alliances brings back lovely memories back to when the muttos were the super power, and i had brought together 80% or so of the clans/players into what was probably the biggest alliance yet. we had our own forum, chat box, each clan had their own private thread haha that alliance would have slain if v8s gos had been around then
for educational purposes only, can you all fill me in on what other alliances have popped up since the breaking? I'm happy enough to be playing with you all again, but i have some gaps needing to be filled. or any other developments too =D

Ah yeah. That was good times. Don't think there's really been any massive alliances like that since unfortunately. NVS, BT, SL, and usually the WT are usually on good terms with each other. Hasn't really been a 'big bad' for people to rally against for a while. SL kinda is starting to get treated like that, but mainly because it takes half the world to compete with them now.

thats why i went to the BT haha to help provide a balance, same with moving on to controlling woe, so that way we could continue the 'struggle'

WoE plus most of the game vs SL was the closest to the Third Covenant that we've had in Tim's versions, and WoE got pwned. That came off without much planning and coordination, though. 3C was an awesome beast, a well-organized alliance that had no point, once the age went live. That was really disappointing. I thought the breaking was going to be better than that, and I expected Muttos and the Forsaken, the "Muttsaken," as Anthony Ashaman called them, to be a force. Instead, the breaking kind of sucked, and Celtia pwned everyone with economic control of the game.

We tried to revive Celtia. Proboards killed the forum, though. Miie returned for awhile, Dayal pops in each round, and Crom was active until recently. If he ever came back and wanted to raise the banner again, I would return to Celtia with an archer alt again, maybe bringing Rhiannon al'Maeve out of retirement. I miss that buxom avatar.

Does anyone have an idea what happened to the DIVAs? I kind of dropped off for a bit there, and when I came back GC's number one enemy had disappeared. I do miss having a big bad terribly.

I think they got bored. Avi was with the WoE clan, and Tintomara was busy in War of Empires but put an alt in WoE, and they probably just didn't have sufficient activity and lost interest.
Aria Sanche still visits the forum. Maybe she'll hear our pleas and revive the Forsaken.

Aria was hands-down the best villain ever in GoS. Even without her, the Forsaken could be revived - though there does not appear to be a leader for it. For the nonce, the main opponent will likely continue to be Silver Legion. I do think a revival of a more RP'ing-centric style would be good. Rather than simply creating clans, it would be nice to go back to the books for source material again (though I admit I am by no means innocent of that particular charge). A move toward creating clans based on the Randland kingdoms may be in order...

I would not be in favor of forcing people to role play in order to play GoS. That is always an option available to individual clans, of course, but if you are suggesting it as a game requirement, I would oppose it, even though I like to write.

I think i remember the forsaken, i also remember someone being really close to craig, and the rumor was if you pissed her off then woud likely get banned from the game =0

I couldn't offer any more information than you have already Cid - that rumor was never substantiated to me.
Jen: I wouldn't require people to RP - that'd be a terrible idea, I agree. I just feel like it'd be good to encourage more Wheel of Time-based clans and character development. Tends to make the game a bit more cohesive (since there's a unitary plot going on that people can reference), and make people more emotionally invested in the game.
Not a requirement - but really more of me musing about how to better revive interest.

I think clans with a WoT theme are better for the game overall, but I had a great time in both Celtia and Legion of the Dragon, which had active forums and clan chat without really being attached to the books at all. I mean, the Legion took its name from the books, but they didn't RP even as much as the White Tower did, much less like the CoL clans. Ultimately, it's important that people are having fun. If it is fun, people will play, and the more that play, the more fun it will be. We know that from having experienced both ends of the spectrum. If we have clans that are focused on the books, then that should actually draw more people and lend the game a little more credence. The new people can make up clans as they please, but I agree that when people start showing up, this should look like a semi-serious WoT game, because it is.
EDIT: I don't know if that makes sense. I guess what I'm saying is that while it is small like this, we should perhaps be fairly unified in having story-based clans, so that we will be more appealing to the WoT fans who stumble upon us. As our numbers grow, then it's fine if the clans start to vary a bit. I mean, maybe some of the WoE players will stay (I know that a few will), and they might want to start GoS versions of their WoE empires. That would be fine, just as it would be fine if a team fomr Tribal Wars or some other game came here and wanted to retain their identity from the other game.
Eventually, I would like to see Theoryland, Tar Valon.net, and Dragonmount all return to us, and while Theoryland is all about WoT, TL Independants, as a clan name, has little or no connection to the books. That's fine, but if we're to entice TLI to return, we will probably have to show that the game has been fixed, is fun, and still relates to WoT.
All that being said, I'm not sure that a few clans with random names will hurt the game. If someone wanted to make a Manchester United clan, I would not be opposed to it, especially if it brought in more players, but Manetheren United would make more sense...

I am all for wot based clan names, as a matter of fact, either in the reset or in v9, the clan im starting up will be called The 8th Tower , as in the lost tower of malkier. and aside from Reds name, im also only using wot based names =D cid highwinds new name is Jaad Isiil (unless of course i can find something better, but the wot name generator has been spewing out lackluster names as of late)

I always liked RPing too, just took too much out of me but I agree. A little variety never hurt anything, but if you don't like the WoT you might as well just play War of Empires. Myself, I love the WoT, and the BT specifically. In my mind, asha'man are like marines with magic. Of course, it wouldn't be fair for them to be too much like they are in the books, or no one could beat them. They'd be like the Silver Legion x10 lol. However, I am writing a WoT book of Edvars origin. Halfway done. Will be posting it in sections of 4. The first part some of you may have already read. Will be posting that sometime in the next week.
