My quick thoughts on the Prologue. Might go into more detail later. Scene 1: Lan Was a little jarring reading from Lan's PoV, as we never see things from him (not since New Spring at least). Kinda fun to actually see what he's thinking. I think his thoughts matched his personality pretty well. Wonder how far he'll actually get before he runs into Shadowspawn... Scene 2: Perrin Interesting Dream sequence. Really looking forward to Perrin's character advancing in this book. He's accepting his blind devotion to Faile as a fault, so hopefully things will progress nicely for him. He's always been one of my favorite chars though... Scene 3: Graendal I'm glad we got this PoV, as I was kinda disappointed by her 'death' in TGS. Glad to know that Dark Rand's plans didn't work like he expected. Her reason for not doing the compulsion herself are still unclear to me (she didn't know or even suspect Balefire at the time she asked for it. Interesting to see how/if she's punished and what she does with her new found freedom. Scene 4: Galad Galad really is a good leader. His scene kinda reminded me of a condensed version of Egwene from KoD and TGS. Wonder how his Questioning will go. Can't wait to see Bornhold and Perrin run into each other again... Scene 5: "Fain" Wow. He's gotten a lot stronger since we last saw him. Was wondering how he'd be a threat to Rand other than in Far Madding or undercover (ie. when he's free to Channel to his hearts desires). The fact that he's killing Worms with seeming ease and has his own Madashar under his command... Things will be interesting. Wonder what name he'll choose. Scene 6: Blight border watchtower Good scene. Touching too. Glad to see the Borderlands weren't completely defenseless, though it doesn't look to be near enough. Good thing we have Rodel and Lan among the Borderlands...

A friend mentioned to me how Lan's POV was kind of *funny*. I pointed out that if Lan is the comic relief for this book, we're in for a sh*tstorm - which I kind of feel is the case anyway...
I'm actually kind of pissed that Graendal survived. There are still way too many Forsaken wandering around. At least he got rid of one of 'em. But - Graendal has mentioned making Rand suffer more than once already, and now she has reason for it to get personal...
Kind of mad about Galad's situation, too - guy can't catch a break. But, I figure he'll come out on top - especially the way he brought Asunawa's own cronies into the discussion, and they couldn't fault what he was saying...
Fain........ <SHIVER>........ Expecting some epic badness from him yet.
Blightborder tower - good reminder of the common folk who're about to be a part of the storm...

Yeah. At least one Forsaken was taken out. Funny how no one on the side of the light ever even knew about the 'gars and that they were reborn Forsaken. Just some renegade Asha'man and a freaky lady that channeled Saidan.

OK, so, broke down and bought it. Lan, still a bad a$$. Good to see. Do you think New Rand still intends for him to be just a distraction? Perrin, may be on the right track to his own bad self again. We shall see. Actually can't remember much about that segment now. May have to listen again. Grendy. I never once thought she was toast. My sister actually argued with me and said BS was just trying to be shocking like in some of his other books, when a main char gets whacked without warning. I didn't buy it. I'm still not convinced Sammael is dead either. Though I've been told RJ himself said so. I aint buyin it. As for the not doing it herself thing, if I remember right, I think it said something about her thinking Nyneve could read the compulsion. So she was overestimating, but it still doesn't account for why she couldn't do it. I understand why she wanted Aran'gar to help, but why have Delana? Again, maybe I'll listen again to see if I'm missing something. Galad. Good man. I have no fear for him though, since we saw him in TGS, hangin out with Perrin. Plus, I think he's the 'man in white' that's supposed to marry Berelain. (or however you spell that.) Diclaimer: It was not me that made the marriage connection. It was my sister. So don't think any less of me. Fain scares me. Nuff said. Though, where do you think he knows Rand is gonna be? Somewhere south, or is he headed to Shayol Ghul, collecting trollocs on the way? He did mention killing Rand, then maybe the DO. Watchtower. Am I less of a man? Cause my eyes watered a lil' bit as I listened. It does set a good stage for the rest of the book I think though.

Lan, still a bad a$$. Good to see. Do you think New Rand still intends for him to be just a distraction? Hadn't thought of that... Though I'm not sure who he'll send to help... Signs are pointing that Lan won't reach Tarwin's Gap anyways, with the Blight exploding with Shadowspawn. Me thinks he'll be right where he's needed to help hold one of the major Borderland cities (protect another like Malkier was unable to do). *fingers crossed* Yeah, I'm hoping Perrin kicks some butt this book. He's got a large and diverse army now. Still looking forward to him reaching Caemlyn. He and Elayne need a talk about the Two Rivers... Yeah, I'll buy Sammael only cuz RJ explictly said he's dead. Didn't put Grenny's death completely out of the picture just cuz of the way Sam went out, but would have been sorely disappointed. After all the build up of Gren, she deserves to at least put up a fight. Yeah, also looking forward to Perrin and the Whitecloaks encounter. Wonder where the Whitecloaks will establish themselves now that Amador is likely out of the picture? Andor seems likely, perhaps even the Two Rivers just for irony sake, but I'm holding out for Cairhien. Galad does have claims to the throne there, and the land of the rising sun would be ideal for the children of the light... My money's on Shayol Ghul. He's prophesized to be there at TG, and everyone knows that's coming soon. Fain probably sees it as the Wheel will make sure Rand gets to TG, but after that it's done with him. Might as well make sure he's the one to take Rand out. *hides own eyes* ..... No comment.

Seeing as they've already started attacking in Kandor, which is between him and Tarwin's Gap. Ooo, hadn't thought of that. Galad would make a good King for Cairhien. Poor Talmanes though. He's gotta get something. Good point.

no the whitecloaks should NOT control ANY country. RJ alone knows all the terrible things theyve done. now yes, Galad would be a good king, but what happens to the country when he dies? and will Rand let the whitcloaks own a country after theyve attacked his home and tried to kill him? unless the new Rand doesnt want to kill anyone not a darkfriend i hope not. i loved evil Rand. and side note. i bet Perrin and Mat team up when they meet Elayne. but then Mat will go to the tower

But most of the bad or over zealous Whitecloaks are dead. It's just the ones who are truly there for good purposes. And, lets be honest, how many are actually gonna survive the last battle? There's only 13,000 ish of them left.
