Col was the City of Light. I may be wrong as I was late coming into the game, probably about version 3 or 4 or 5 or so, I dunno. But basically it was an alliance between a few clans. There was Malkier, The Storm Legion, The Black Tower, The White Tower, Nine Valleys Sept... I think thats all of them... Each clan had a seperate set of criteria for going up through its ranks to begin with. X number of posts + x number of wins, sometimes a test was thrown in too. It was an Role Playing site, i forgot to mention that too. Alot of great people there, even the enemies were quite cool There used to be some friction between the CoL and the Forsaken, and the CoL and Mutto's towards the end... It started dying and then someone, most likely Daved Helmaker deleted the site. It was moved but it didn't last long after that. I don't know what you mean by 'real' clan wars?

Hi Brom!
City of Light can about after the old Aes Sedai wars of the first couple versions (between The White Tower and Salidar clans to 'control' Tar Valon). Basically, the old Salidar allies are the one's that formed the City of Light. It was a Forum where the clan members could get together and strategize much more privately than the GoS clan chats. Role playing was then added where players could RP as actual characters in the WoT world (completely unrelated from GoS). As GoS died down, RP picked up.
Eventually the site got deleted though (I'm not going into that mess). A new site was made, but it was never quite the same (all the old RPs were lost). A lot of us migrated over to The Towers (Ed's RP site), but that's been pretty dead for a while too. I've been too focused on GoS for much RPing. Not sure what happened to most of the others, though I do see them pop in here occasionally (like Brom here ;D). Wish that would happen more often though...
Would be nice to see the big clan 'wars' make a comeback. I have a couple ideas of how to 'encourage' that, but we'll have to see if and how they work.

Same as Tim. Haven't had much time. However, I still check it occasionally and always post when others post on Towers! And you forgot Wolfbrothers Brom!

I actually haven't even thought of the City in a while - let me tell you, that place was great. And yes, if anybody remembers from the old ages, I was there. Back then, I went by the name Charlz Guybon - during the founding of City of Light I was the Shambayan of Malkier, and therefore spent quite a bit of time formulating the rules. GoS was more organized (in terms of clan members, rules and vulnerability) by the time CoL started for the truly chaotic bloodshed of the first (4 I think) versions, but it got VERY interesting at times, let me tell you. Like Tim, I really do long for the old days of intrigue and petty warfare. P.S. if you DO have any ideas as to how to encourage such things, Tim, I think we would all be grateful if they could be put into effect. P.P.S. Oh, and Brom, welcome back - you've been sorely missed!

I loved the competitiveness between the clans, even outside the games. Infiltrating the different forums to see plans and things. Epic! Dammit the wolfbrothers, i thought there was more but I couldnt think of them! I think i'll try and get involved in this whole thing again Although it'll be a learning curve with everything thats new!

Well, the biggest thing to overcome at this point is the lack of players compared to back then. In those days there were 5-10 semi-active members in each of the bigger clans (not counting their alts, though most people had their alts more spread out in those days too). Hard to lay master strategies when it's just you your alts, and maybe 1 to 2 other actual players in a clan.
I do have a few different ideas to get things spread things out. May try one on the Test site before V6 launches. I'm guessing some may not be thrilled about it initially though. We'll try it and see how it goes. I'll added before I reset the test site (hopefully some time in the next week, FYI). Gotta get a few more things done and then things need a reset for proper testing of them. One step closer to the official launch though!!

I would expect there to be a bit of an increase in members in a few months with the book release, it's just a matter of getting people to see it! I remember the only reason i found the game was through dragonmount.com , I'm sure others are the same!

Yeah. We probably should try to see if Dragonmount will re-add a section for the Game. They had one but never updated it and then took it off completely. And Welcome back, Brom! Any questions about the game, just ask.

Oh man, I remember Charlz - you were like my idol on the City of Light! You pretty much represented everything that was right on the internet! And Brom of course... ! I cant quite remember, but most people probably knew me as Artur. However, I think I had several other names as well.
