Let's be prefectly honest: the currently generated quest names SUCK!! (I wrote the code that make them, so I can say that ) Really, those were just intended to be place holders until I had time to change them to something more interesting. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and that didn't make it in V4.
It WILL make it in V5.
I have quite a few tweaks planned for quests in V5 (though none have been finished yet), but this is definately one of them that will get done. There's one thing that the WoT world doesn't lack, it's characters. WoT has an abundance of them, so why not take advantage of that. I've compiled a list of over 350 last names (sorted by country of origin), over 30 Ogier names (just first name), and over 40 Aiel sept names. These will be used in the generation of quests. This list does not include names of major characters (like Al'Thor or Damondred), and I left a lot of nobles off the list (particularly in Andor, where I had too many names to chose from anyways).
So from now on, instead of seeing "Troubles around Rhuidean: Attacks in Spine of the World", you might see something like "Lions attack Elder Dalar's stedding near the Spine of the World". Or "Trollocs raid Master Bastine's villiage near World's End". Or "Bears overrun Mistress Finngar's farm in the Mountains of Mist". Or "Dreadlord's attack the Bloody Water sept's hold in the Aiel Waste". Or... Well you probably get the idea.
All Ogier will be refered to as Elder (since their names are gender specific, I needed a title that wasn't), all the Aiel names are septs (since they don't have last names, I figured this was easier), and all other people's will be either 'Master' or 'Mistress'. The name's used in each area will be indicative of the nationalities of people you'd be likely to find there. So you'll find quests to help people from the Two Rivers & Ghealdan in the Mountain of Mists and people from Tear & Illian on the Plains of Maredo. I tried to spread things out the best I could, so every place wilderness area 40-50 names to choose from. Each name will show up in 2 wilderness areas (except Ogier and Aiel: 1 each).
Quests in towns (like item quests) also have a subset of names they use, with about 20 names in each of them (Andorans in Caemlyn, Seanchan in Falme, etc). People from countries that don't have towns accociated with them were used to help even things out, so you'll also find quests from Ghealdan's in Amador, in addition to Amadicians and other cases like this.
Like I said, this change isn't complete yet, so the exact wording of the quests is still subject to change a bit, but in this should give you a general idea of what's coming. Hope you like it!
