i know this is going to sound just slightly crazy but what if the members of a clan could rebel AGAINST the clan leader? of course this would suck for the leaders but take the Dragon clan for example. if they could overthrow tommy, they wouldnt have had to break the clan apart. (unless they did it for a different reason) i got the idea from the game fallensword although i dont play anymore.

In theory, I like the idea as it could also fix issues when the leader of a clan becomes inactive the clan could choose a new leader. However, I'm relucant to add such a system due to the clan stealing issues we had a few versions back.
For those of you that weren't around back then, there was an influence system where clan members could support other members (not themself) as the leader. Whoever had the most support was the leader. Well what ended up happening was a group of people (mainly an alt army, I believe) would join a clan that was open invite, support one of their own as the new leader, then kick all the members except the new leader. They'd then offer control of the clan back for large amounts of money. Coupled with a bug that allowed you to invite yourself into any clan, it created a chaotic enviroment that not many enjoyed.
So while I like the idea in theory, I'd only implement it if I could be sure it couldn't be exploited.

how bout only subleaders could start it? i mean if the leader picked the subleader then they should trust them and it would solve that inactive leader thing while making it really hard to clan steal since the leader has to have u as a sub

Maybe you could use Craig's old system of inactivity removing leadership. Also, with the addition of sub-leaders, this is less of an issue than it used to be, since sub-leaders can do most of the things that are needed to keep the clan running smoothly.

hmmmm, something just triggered my mind.
i think it should definitely be possible to challenge the leader of a clan for clancontrol. Whitecloaks do it, hidden records of the WT show several times an Amirlyn deposed and i can definitely see someone getting rid of Taim......
now if someone could think of a practical way to put this in the game?

how about you set up a system where you cant start a overthrow by clicking a link then you would have a subprogram that would send a msg to all clan members below the leader they could then seperate into a subclan those for the new leader and those against. the subclans would then have a battle between the two and they would need to reach a certain number of wins like taking over a town. if the subclan for the old leader wins then you have to wait x amount of days before another uprising if the subclan for the new leader wins they must choose a champion and that champion themselves must beat the leader x amount of times like a town takeover. additionally the elected new leader should be banned from actually participating in the duel. one last thing make it so that there is at least a 50% vote before you initiate the subclans this also gives the oppurtunity for a couple things like knowing when it is going to happen etc. set it up for x amount of days from the original claim so that word and rumors can spread and the clan leader can prepare if one of his allies happens to give him the information he is to be challenged

its really simple as far as steps
a) player initiates overthrow of ruler
b) if overthrowers represent at least 40 percent of clan then
c)create subclan
d) if oldclan wins x more than newclan then end if oldclan wins x less than newclan then
e) choose champion
f) have ruler vs champion if ruler wins then no change if chapion wins new leader.
additionally it should be set up so that each subclan get an equal set of duels and you could name it overthrow duel or such to denote it as seperate as normal fights this duels would also not contribute experience or gold gain. or gold gain as a set amount divided among whole subclan say 1 or 2 gold each
