reading this is like walking down memory lane , not many forum threads have this time span - It would be nice to see some new life in this game and V7 has tons of potential , as was said earlier gos in previous eras had a large following and felt more like a community than any online game I have ever played . and for those that hated the Muttos , there has to balance lol for surely without hate how can you define love

Definately, there's no victory without foes. But let's not forget the Forsaken either! What you still can do to give GoS new life is advertising on fantasy related boards. I've been doing so and got some good feedback. I've seen at least 2 new players in the last week that came from those forums. If I still had me clan's Proboard I could email old users about V7, but Probo. discontinued the service. Those who still have that possibility should try spreading the word.

Good in the way that they exploited bugs until all but a couple of people quit playing, ruining even the "Fun" version, too? I don't think so. Neutered, housebroken, and vaccinated, they might be alright, but The Forsaken were a better foe in this game because they did not break it, and because Aria was more amusing in-game and on the forum (IMO) than Daved. The Mutts behave much better in War of Empires, where it has been a lot of fun to fight them for a couple of years, but here, they screwed the pooch. If they can be cool here like they are in WoE, then welcome back! Otherwise, call the dogcatcher.

He's come on this board and posted some sour rants, but not all of the Mutts feel the same way about the game. Several returned and tried it after Tim took it over, and while it didn't capture their longterm interest, I know they had fun for a minute. I also know of at least two who helped wreck it the first time (and in all fairness, the Creator, Craig, could have tried to fix what they exposed as broken, but did not) who feel some regret about it. They do not try to wreck the other game we play, and I doubt if this game would hold Daved's interest any longer. They would probably be led by someone else and thus, have a different group personality. Like I said, if they will play like they play in WoE, I'd be happy to see them return, but if they want to be obnoxious vandals, I'd rather they stay away.
My main disagreement was with Edvar saying that they were good for this game. I think they were the definition of bad for it, but if they return and are the cool villains that I know they can be, yeah, they'd be good for it now.

I agree with Jenlyn. The two main reasons the game died was because of Craig not fixing things/not making new stuff, and some of the Mutts. I think it would have died eventually, if Craig kept on the way he was, but it ended faster because of the Mutts abuse of bugs, and all the other stuff that was causing people to quit, like the foul mouthed PMs that were spammed to people, spamming of clan chats, threats to hack people's computers etc. I know several people who left, not because they were tired of the game, but because they were tired of dealing with the Mutts. I only wish I had a way to contact those people and get them to come back. That being said, since I've been playing Tim's versions, this is only the second time we've had a Mutt presence, and neither experience has been negative. So, as long as they're here to play, not to ruin the game, I welcome the extra players.

Perhaps I chose the wrong words in trying to be fair. SOME of the Muttos were good for the game. I hated them for a long time. I think they fried my hard drive at 1 point lol. However, I came to know and like at least 1 of them. Even had him as my #2 for a while. You must admit, they inspired us to some great alliances against them lol. I never really knew the real Forsaken, except that while Daved took the credit for destroying the first CoL, I later heard it was really Aria. Not really sure what I believe.

Without a doubt, I like some of them, too. Destroying the CoL forum was unacceptable, and that could have been either one of them. At any rate, it is nice to have an influx of players.

I recognise some of the names here brings back memories. In one of Craig's versions, if you've ever lost an item while transferring it on the marketplace, it might have been me. dang I loved market sniping.
