More, I think. At least, Clans should have more of a physical influence on the game, as opposed to basically being chat-groups. Perhaps Clan taxes?

Same as deGagne said, really. Clans should be an important part of the game. They are supposed to be the main social aspect of GoS, however external forums usually turn into that.
I remember lots of ideas were bandied about in terms of Clans way back when Shoreside Vale (remember him?) was going to remake the game. I'll try and have a look around for some to see if they had any sort of credibility at all.
But PLEASE can we say Bye Bye to Influence? What purpose has it served anyone (apart from clan-invading Muttos, that is?)
In general though, you could add a lot to Clans. Clan Vaults, for storing Gold and items etc. Clan Member Ranks and Leadership Options (customisable, maybe?).

I second all your suggestions - although there ought to be some way of overthrowing a Clan's leadership..... We should definitely have curtomizable Clan leadership - or at least a genuine order of succession (just in case of "accidents") >) Also, I'm going to continue to harp on the Clan-controlled areas issue for as long as I can. We need countries!

Perhaps you could put in 'relics' that would give clan members extra stats while the clan holds them. +5% melee, or +3% agility, etc. I don't know if it would be better to have them in one place, or to have them small, that could be stolen in a clan battle.

I figured that would be the case, but was curious if there was anyone pushing for more solo oriented stuff. A lot of the changes I'm planning will deal with making clans more important. Down the line I do want to make things more fun for those who chose not to join a clan, but for now clans will get some focus.

Have any of ye guys played War of Empires? Maybe have the clan something along those lines. Maybe put certain things into it that you can buy to upgrade your clan. Like building an armoury gives your clan a melee bonus, a fletchers gives a ranged bonus.
Also if you could a goal in the game... And ages... So theres a chance for people to catch up. It keeps things lively.

Yeah, I don't think it will be quite as clan oriented as WoE is for a while. Way too much stuff to add at once, but maybe gradually it will move closer that way.
I agree with the need for resets occasionally after a certain point is reached. Can only make leveling up interesting to a point. Can't believe some of the levels players currently have in the current GoS age. I'm half tempted to reset it myself...

I like the Idea of being able to buy certain Upgrades for the Clan. Like an Armory for storing weapons, Vault for storing Gold, Library for Talismans etc. Could be useful. But could easily be abused.

well not really... Maybe you have to upgrade the builldings. Level 1 armoury can hold weapons up to lvl x, level 2 armoury holds weapons up to level x... Then put in a higher cost as you upgrade...
