I'm currently fiddling around with adding subleaders to clans. They will have all the powers of the leader (kick, unblock, etc) expect for the ability to kick the leader or add/remove other subleaders. This way if the leader is away and something needs to happen, one of the subleaders can handle it. A max of 2 subleaders will be allowed per clan.
I also plan on arranging it so if a leader leaves the clan, leadership will fall to one of the subleaders instead. Not sure how I'll have it determine which one, but it won't be influence. Due to it's unpopularity, influence will be fazed out. Another thing to consider is if a leader with no subs leaves, who's in charge. I'm also working on ways of removing a leader in a safer, more controlled way than influence.

The code for adding and removing subs is in there now, but it's still buggy and subs currently have no powers. I'd suggest leaving it alone until I get it a little bit more hammered out.

Sounds good. Maybe the new leader could be based on seniority within the Clan (ie, the sub-leader who's been there longer will be picked.)
EDIT: Just had an idea. Maybe the Leader could name a chosen successor?

Subleaders appear to be working. Feel free to play around with them. Still haven't tweaked it so the subleader takes over after a leader leaves though.
Enjoy.

Maybe there could be an 'heir' subleader, and the junior subleader. Both with the same powers, but the heir will be dominant, and the one chosen if the leader leaves.
