I'm becoming way too concerned about how this game will turn out. And one of the things that I find really annoying is gold. More specifically the price of things.
450,000 pieces of gold for a horse? At that price it better be motorized, and be able to fly.
So I have two questions. For Tim, would it be possible to move the game over to a gold/silver/copper economy?
For everyone else, what do you think of changing it to a gold/silver/copper economy?

would be interesting. i could see a pony being worth 3,000 copper. not 3,000 gold. ponys are dumb...
question is how much copper would = a silver and how much silver would = a gold?

I believe in one of the books it explains all the different coin values...
there are like 3 different levels to each group of Copper, Silver, and Gold
i believe it was Penny, (i forget), Crown

From Wot wiki.. wot.wikia.com/wiki/MeasurementCoinage Actual monetary value is frequently determined by weight in precious metals, since the content of coins from different nations does vary. The following scale is used in Tar Valon and Andor, who are believed to have the heaviest coins in the Westlands: * 10 copper pennies = 1 silver penny * 100 silver pennies = 1 silver mark * 10 silver marks = 1 silver crown * 10 silver crowns = 1 gold mark * 10 gold marks = 1 gold crown In other countries, the conversion rate will be different[1].

Good work! I would love to have a true monetary system that works, although we would probably have to simplify that somewhat, say
100 pennies = 1 mark 10 marks = 1 crown
or something like that, although it might be practicable to use the real values....
The conversion rates would be a devil to figure out on the fly, not to mention all the other things this would entail, such as changing your money from 1 million coppers to 1 gold crown.... Or how the money you stole from other players would show up.... Or how the money you got for selling equipment would work.
I still think it's worth doing, though. It's really up to what Tim thinks is possible.

It could just have it so it transfers from 100 pennies to 1 mark automatically... I know it doesnt seem like there would be a point to this, but it does help cut down on people having hundreds of thousands of gold coins, plus the prices could get to be more realistic

That should work. Basically, just make it so the actual value of your cash is the same, it's just listed as the different coins.....

It actually wouldn't be that hard to do this. What I'd likely do is leave how money is stored in the database the same, and just write a function to display what you have using integer division and mod functions. So using the simplified system that Hugh suggested for an example, I'd just change it so instead of saying you have 12345 gold, you'd have 12 Crowns, 3 Marks, and 45 pennies. The trickiest part would be finding all the places gold gets displayed and changing it to go through the function. And making it so it displays nicely.
Not sure when this will get added, as I'm getting more and more reluctant to accept new changes to my v1 plan. The more changes I make, the longer it will be before it gets release. I gotta draw the line somewhere. I think I'll put this on the maybe list, meaning if I have time, I might try to implement this.

Good to hear it. Yeah, there's been a lot of new ideas and suggestions flowing in lately. You did say to just throw any ideas we had out there. We're just following your orders.

Oh, I'm not complaining. I'm loving all the ideas. Just giving you all fair warning that you likely won't see many of the latest round of suggestions in v1 and not to be too upset by it. Doesn't mean they won't be done. I'm actually quite interested in a lot of them. Just need to make a cut off somewhere.

Everyone keep making suggestions so it takes Tim a bit longer to do another reset so maybe I can see lvl 50

I can go on and on.. Now, what area of the game have I not yet commented on somewhere on these forums? Hmm...
