With all the shop talk lately, I've decided to let you all know my plan for shops (which is mostly coded already, just not out there). Though for you to fully understand, I might as well just explain my clan influence system.
Have at it!
Clan Influence System
Clan's will be able to gain influence over towns. The goals of this system are:
Calculating Clan Influnce & Determining town's 'ruler'
Every win a clan member has inside of a town will count towards their clan's influence in that area. The first clan to gain an influence of 100 (subject to change) for an area will gain control of that area. Leadership can change at every multiple of 100 (so the first to 200 become new 'rulers', then 300, etc), or whenever a clan changes their support (see below). The reason for the change only taking place at every 100 wins is to reduce rapid switching of leadership and a lot of extra database queries that would slow down the battles. (Note: Only wins from non-allies count towards score).
Clan Benefits
Town Banks and Shop
A clan incharge of a town gains multiple benefits. The clan leaders gain access to the town banks, which fills from every purchase from the town shop. It does not lower when people sell things back though, as that would quickly drain the town bank and likely then some. This money can be used to upgrade the shops to carry better items, therefore bringing in more money to the town (see below). There might be a few other upgrades that can be purchased as well. However, money can not be directly taken from the town bank or used for personal expenses. Possible daily percent loss for town upkeep. When control of an area passes from one clan to another, the town retains all of its upgrades and the new clan gains the benefits, making the more upgraded towns bigger targets.
Clan member payments
Instead, at certain time intervals (likely every hour when battles get updated) each clan member who is currently in a town controlled buy their clan will receive a percentage of the gold from the town bank. A total of 1% (subject to change) of the total in the town bank will be divided evenly (rounded up)between the members in the town (ie. if the town bank has 100,000 gold in it, and there are 10 members of the clan within the town, each member will receive 100 gold). While this may not seem like a lot, remember that some higher level weapons will likely cost in the hundreds of thousand gold range, so this payment could get quite large later on. This will be their payment for defending the town and discourage them from leaving a town they control to make it more difficult for others to get wins in that town.
Shops and Shop Stats
The shop in each town would have a predetermined (not random) set of items. Which items a shop carries will be determined by the Shops Stats. The leader of a clan controlling a town will be able to use money from the town bank to upgrade these stats and therefore allow better weapons to be purchased. Shop stats will include a level for each type of item, so for example if you upgrade the sword stat, your shop will begin carrying new swords.
The stats of each town's shop will start out slightly different and will have a different maximum level for each stat. For example, a shop in the Aiel Waste will likely start out with a good variety of spears and will be able to upgrade to get the best spears, but will not be able to sell swords. There will also be certain items that can only be found in one or two locations (ie. Two Rivers Long Bow would be found in the Two Rivers/Manetheran/Andor/whatever-this-area-gets-called). This is to help create a variety within the shops and make it more necessary to travel around to get the best equipment for you.
Talismen will not be available for purchase from the shop, inorder to prevent abuse of combining talismen with items to increase their sell value beyond that of the item and talisman, effectively allowing for infinate gold to anyone with enough patience. Instead, talismen will become more commonly dropped after battle.
Supporting Allies
(Note: this is not FINAL!)
The leader of a clan (Clan A) may choose for his clan to help another in their effort to take control of an area. They can select one of their allied clans (Clan B) to support. As long as they are allied, Clan A's wins in that area will be added to Clan B's total.
If Clan A decides to no longer support Clan B, their wins will be added to their own total as normal from then on, but will not regain wins counted during thier support of Clan B.

Clan Influence System
Clan's will be able to gain influence over towns. The goals of this system are:
- to increase clan importance
- give a more specific goal for clans
- add alternate means of income
- make alliances more meaningful
- encourage travel between areas
