Hey all, a quick thought to start the day ... something I have been able to do every age to some degree is to collect 'taxes' from folks who forget/don't realise/whatnot that they have received an achievement reward. All the vets would be aware of when they get these huge cash bundles (relative to the game period in which they are received), but new players are often not aware, and this leaves them at a fairly significant disadvantage. Now if there was a push on refresh this wouldn't really be an issue worth discussing, it would be plain that people just need to pay more attention and we could all get on with our lives - however without the user actually refreshing the page on their end, they don't know that they have actually received a reward.
Thus the suggestion that rewards only be attributed to the player's assets upon viewing the achievement notification, or a button to accept the reward, or a push to the client to update upon receipt of the achieve ... anything along these lines would work. Thoughts?

I know that I've thought, "Dammit, where'd these gold pieces come from? I just emptied my purse; now I have to figure out what else to buy so that I don't get mugged!" I'd rather click to accept the coin than just have it appear in my purse. Is that what you mean?

yeah, that's the one. It's a pretty minor thing in the grand scheme of things I think, just a bit of polishing up.

I agree. This would be nice later in the round, but annoying that first day when you get an achievement every other click of the mouse. I think something like this would be good for cutpurse too. In the past, it just didn't show up till you logged in next, but now it's gone before you get back. Just thought of something else. Would this need a timer, or do we care if people save up their rewards?

Cutpurse shows up now when you're not online?

I don't think there's any exploitable reason to bother applying a time limit ... or at least not one that I can think of. The longer you wait from the point of receiving the cheeve reward, the less valuable stored coin becomes. Personal ji is just that, personal ji. Skill/Profession points again have no increased value when used strategically down the track, and can simply be stockpiled already anyway. And yep, I'm pretty sure that cutpurse (and performer?) just keep adding hourly to your cash, regardless of online status. That one I'm a little less concerned about however, can't make things TOO easy for squirrels Haha the vast majority of the cheeve rewards aren't an issue either, it's just there's always 2 or 3 people in an age that end up logging off with 10g50s out in their first week sometime without realising it, leaving unscrupulous folks with broken moral compasses and little willpower to resist as helpless victims to their greed.

I THINK that the way things currently stand, the reward from the achievements will show up the exact same time the messages do. So until you see the message saying you've received the reward, it's not there yet. The exceptions to this are the net worth/estate related achievements, as those are currently only checked every 10-15 minutes (can't remember which off the top of my head). Those WOULD get applied even if you're offline, simply because it's too taxing to check net worth and estate levels every time someone refreshes a page (which it does for most of the other achievements). As for a collect button, I think that could be implemented without TOO much hassle. Might get a little annoying early on in the game, but would probably be managable. As for time outs, my thought is that currently only the 20 most recent achievement message are shown, so if you don't claim the reward before completing 20 more achievements you lose the option to reward. Only potentially exploitable ones I see would be saving are the big gold ones for bank, net worth, business worth, etc to jack up your net worth total at the last minute, but the only person who probably would care enough to try doing that is KR (or maybe me ). Overall, very doable I think. Plus I've found it rewarding in other games (mobile games) to have to go and hit collect on rewards I've earned. Makes me pay more attention, as a lot of the time I just pop onto the achievement page quick to make the annoying message numbers go away without really looking too close at what I did or earned.

I'm all for this idea since I always end up having my gold stolen Would be nice if cutpurse and performer also only got applied when you are online. Not really worth taking them now since most of your earnings will be stolen before you can bank it.
