There's also the really flip BAD side of the taint/dodge thingo of course ... just to backflip, 'cause it's what I do ... a tainter who is immune to dodge effects in essence screws a dodge build over probably as hard as a dodger currently destroys them ... I hate to complicate things, but the more I think about this, the more I tend towards dodge/acc being the only viable damage-to-hit calculator, with luck being an interested bystander, or perhaps shifted to a stun/wound application modifier perhaps ... not sure, just throwing that in there

On holiday at the moment, so I'll post fully later, but the proposed change to max health means that stacking speed and health gain will be useless. Maybe set max health on turn changes?

Seitaarin: I don't think a Taint build would completely destroy a dodge build anymore than it would a non-dodge build. Taint still has randomness to deal with. It just means that a dodge build would have the same amount of defense to taint as any other build that doesn't have high luck.
Davram: Yep. Speed will have no affect on health gain and I think that's ok. Not every skill needs to counteract every other one. This way whether you do 100 damage over one turn or over 3, your opponent's health gain will be the same. If you have multiple turns in a row, your health gain will only kick in on the first, but again I think that's ok. I think I was trying to account for the multiple turns problem with the last way and I think it made things too complicated.
The complicated thing about balancing stats is that it's very rare that anyone builds a pure, one stats only type of build. Generally it's a combination of 2-3 or more, with either a focus on straight damage, straight block, or a balance of the 2 go on top of it. I think the only way to really tell how things stack up at this point is to try it out. I don't think the changes I've proposed at this point will dramatically shift the balance of things for the majority of the game. The biggest changes will probably be noticed late in the game and players may be able to adjust their builds accordingly.
