Suggestions/Wishlist as at V12, feel free to add more
'Defenders' TA (prefix): -5% shield usage, per Archers, Ogiers, Bloodknives, Blademasters, Headsmans, Dashain
Modify 'Compel' weave from Spirit/Fire to Spirit/(Air or Earth) ... (lore vs balance discussion) I seem to recall spirit and fire being lore compliant for use of the weaker compulsion weave compel (as used by Liandrin, for eg), will have to look that side of it up, or perhaps someone might know offhand ... but the current weave focus allocations don't flow per other weave paths. The downstream defensive weaves (block primary) follow a different path of progression through the weave elements.
focus 1 ... Ward (Spirit)
focus 2 ... Compel (Spirit, Fire)
focus 3 ... Power Shield (Spirit, Air, Earth)
focus 4 ... Refresh (Spirit, Air, Earth, Water)
There is 'Firestorm' (Fire, Air, Earth, Water) in there just to throw a bit of a curve ball, but it has a block component that drops spirit completely, so is again out of sync ... it's a bit of a hybrid though with it's damage components, so I didn't include in the spirit/shield progression.
I think this becomes a bit of a balance issue directly during the level 10-30'ish range, and makes focus choices a bit difficult for the novice channeller ... and indirectly at the higher levels, as there are paths on the damage lines that tend to follow a logical progression without wastage points in unused weave foci ... (eg boil > cyclone > lightning storm ... drown, lightning strike, lightning storm ... boil, lava flow, firestorm/earthquake ... drown, tsunami, earthquake) there are others of course, and a couple of the related chains that kind of diverge, but the defensive channellers don't have the unbroken progression options that damagers have.
