I'm at work and can't really read this thoroughly, but I think I got the basic gist of it. I'm curious to see when the three way part of this threeway fight begins to take place. So far it just looks like three big clans clubbing the while tower like a harp seal for having the audacity to make a new friend when told that their old friend was turning to the shadow. Nice that no matter what we do, the participation points seem to work against us and the hordes do too. That all our newbies quits icing on the cake. Please excuse us if we don't look like we're having fun.

Back on topic though. We have to figure out a way to get the players to STAY. Right now, there's no incentive. They bust their butts off to help their clan, and then another CB comes along and they get massacred. What can we do to stop this. I lost 3 people and 5 alts in my clan- more if I count Seth (I'm still trying to convince him to come back, but he's sick of being so grossly outnumbered). I'm not the only one, and if we don't figure out a way to stop it, there will be no new influx of people playing.

Can't speak for anyone else Jenlyn, but NVS attacking WT this age had nothing to do with any alliances you made. My other posts hopefully explains that better, but NVS saw an opportunity to spread out territory and we took it. The alliance with CS is one of conveinience. with NVS and WT butting up against each other territory wise, I could have done the boring thing and allied with them, only to be stuck in our own little corner with no hope of expanding like last age or attacked them. The later sounded like it would make the game more interesting. If I saw an option that would have be good for NVS to attack CS, I would have. *SAM LOOK AWAY* (I still might if I find one. ) The other thing that let me to allying with CS this age: They asked me. EC and WT did not. Not saying I would have said yes if they had because I didn't want a lot of allies, but it was a factor. I have more allies than I planned right now anyways.

I admit there hasn't been a 3 way fight. Just saying that was my plan initially. That plan obviously hasn't worked out so far.

Also, I think that next version, I should put my main focus on making a new advertisement so we can draw in more players

It's come to my attention that some of what I've said could be taken as an insinuation that Tim cheats as a player. I want to be perfectly clear that I do NOT think Tim cheats in any way. I was/am frustrated by game mechanics and hordes, but I have never thought nor intended to plant a seed of thought in anyone's mind that Tim was tinkering with the mechanics to foil us or unleashing bookend hordes on our CB. I'm really sorry if anyone, especially Tim, thought I was accusing him, openly or subtly, of abusing his power as admin and game creator. I can see how it could be read that way, but that was not what I was thinking.
As far as the rest, whatever the different clans' different reasons might be, the end result was that we were dog piled this round, and two of the four dog piling clans were unprovoked and unthreatened by us (not to mention former allies), and we didn't like it, and we'll remember it next round.

Lol dont worry Tim i know it is a very real possibility. I knew that from the start, but as you said, it was an alliance of convenience, and at the beginning for the CS a necessity

I believe just a week ago or less you even commented on how Tim is quite the fair player. And working with him this age i can see that too. even tho it would be REALLY easy to abuse his power he doesnt

As the Dark One, I can vouch that it is extremely difficult to play fairly. The Creator and Dark One characters are overpowered, but also limited in some ways. Honestly, I tend to not use the DO character a lot because of this. And when I do, I always inform Tim as to what I am doing first, and my normal characters always end up doing more for my causes. What I am saying is that, because I have the potential to be unfair, I think about fairness a lot more than most players and I am sure that its the same for Tim. Also, new suggestion. I think the Wiki should have a Home page with frequently asked questions answered on it and basic advice for new players. And perhaps some of the Achievements could come with some random advice from the Creator in the messages

Ever thought of doing up a 'tutorial'? ... level 1 characters have a companion whispering in their ear ... click the Quests button ... do a 5x NPC quest ... duel a lvl imaginary player ... put points into skills, achievement!! etc etc ... then by the time they are finished that 'tutorial' line they are lvl 2 or whatnot, ready to continue on out into the world.

I don't know all that's went on while my internet is down ,but I just want to say I went bad this round cause it sound like fun plus my brother has always wanted the clan to do a little shadow work. So I told him we'd go shadow this round . Plus the Witch asked me for an alliance any one could or still can .. But it was nice to know that some one wanted the band to help pass out a little pain to characters who for the most part have made me happy and mad to play against . So I hope to get to know more of you people on a personal level , who know maybe next age we might be allies .

Soo, just to put my 2 cents worth in, and hopefully it can add positively to the discussion. Please take this with a few grains of salt, my mind has been known to change regularly...
A tutorial system may help somewhat, the tips section in wiki by alMordre is a good foundation for this I think - on a side note, I think the way the wiki opens to particulars of what page of the game you are on is great.
The wiki absolutely MUST be updated before any new round starts. I've been trying to help with this but I simply don't have the time currently. It is a great system, but just gives far too much conflicting or old info..
Clan battles/duels etc - I personally feel there is too much centralisation around the importance of battles and dueling, which may have an impact on retaining new players. The system is quite complex, but that is not a bad thing in itself (wiki/tutes/vet players help here).
Instead I personally feel there should be an increased focus on character/empire building. Make professions more important (option to upgrade with skill points so a player does not just have to build around fighting). Make ter angreal FAR more rare...
I think there is too much range when dueling (+/-20 levels?) But I don't have an opinion on how to fix that...
I have found this game to be quite complex to learn, but that is in no way a bad thing. Much prefered to most other browser game types..
