i had this idea and thought it might be a good idea to share it is it possible that Talents could be incorporated into the game in a more book faithful way than just classes anyone can pick, there are an awful lot of wolfbrothers out there i think i have come up with something that is balanced ( as much as possible since they are all just ideas at the moment) and that will open up a new level to game play.
what if when we made a character there was a small chance of being "born" with a unique talent. depending on how effective the talent is the chances for the different talents appearing could range from extremely rare (maybe one character per age) to relatively common ( 1 in 15?)
the avenues this opens up for the clan dynamic could get very interesting i dont even know if it is possible to code though.
anyway here is a list of the different talents that i could come up with effects for
Sniffers - people with the ability to "smell" past violent actions in a location, the "scent" of which fades with time.
in game they can see who has dueled who and how many npcs people have killed in the area they are in. but only for the recent past. maybe around ten minutes?
Foretelling- causes the channeler to experience trance-like states in which they perceive future or present events. this one is interesting. the foreteller would get random PMs from "the pattern" or the creator if its easier telling them information like where a future horde will strike or when.
Ter'angreal, reading - the ability to discern the purpose of a ter'angreal.
Ter'angreal, making - the newly discovered ability to create a ter'angreal. these to could be combined/slightly changed. what i see these doing is granting a player the ability to take TAs apart and join TAs together.
Aligning the Matrix - The ability to make metal stronger. in game this could function by a person having the ability to increase the performance of items. E.G. they give bludgeons plus 1 stun, knives plus 0.5 speed. (im not sure if you can have 0.5 speed lol)
Healing - The Talent to heal another person completely of any wounds or ailments. this would give a person the ability to function as an inn to other players and the healer gets the coin instead. they could even heal you to a few stamina points above your max but cost more, im not 100% sure that is balanced enough though.
Reading Residues - A channeler with this Talent can read and duplicate a weave even days after it was woven. this would give the person the ability to see the weave an opponent channeller used against them.
Ta'veren Seeing - Allows the channeler to see ta'veren in a golden light. i like this one the person sees the players name who has the highest awesomeness value in gold like the creator and and the dark ones.
Unweaving - The ability to pick apart a weave so as to leave no evidence of it behind. this would make the player immune to a player with the reading residue talents bonus. ( that sounds like a mouthful and im not sure if it makes sense but it is very simple
Flying - Mentioned several times as a talent that was lost during the Breaking. Allows the channeler to fly. .......LOL not really ive got nothing for this one
