I think it would be a good idea to include bonding in any future versions of the game. Bonding someone as a Warder would be an interesting addition to a great game.

I agree, this would be good. The trouble would be in balancing it. Making it work for GoS. What would be the bonuses? What would be the drawbacks? Perhaps a Warders stamina would not drop so fast and she gets a small defense bonus, but unless he and his Aes Sedai were in the same area, her defense would go down and his dodge and accuracy would go down?

Sounds like a fun feature.
How about both get some sort of bonus (stamina, speed, defense etc), but if someone manages to kill the AS (win a duel) the Warder would get a massive drop in stats for x time?
Or maybe + x% damage and + y% damage to self?
Not sure what the drawback to the AS should be though...

Felic and I have been talking this over this afternoon. We have clan allies, why not an option to 'bond' yourself to another character? I agree that the warder should get extra damage and maybe stamina, from the bond- at the cost of the Aes Sedai. The warder gets maybe +2%, or more, stamina and the Aes Sedai loses that amount. I like the idea that the only way the Aes Sedai and Warder get the bonuses is if they are in the same area. I don't know about the idea that they have to both be logged on to get it. I guess that would mean that I would have to give my warder my password so he could move me where ever he needed to go to get the benefits and I wasn't able to be on at the time. He does live in England after all. O.o
In exchange for the extra damage and stamina from the Aes Sedai, the warder gives her extra defense. Maybe some luck too. I don't know. I know that the Aes Sedai bond Warders for the protection and the companionship. Not sure how that would translate to in game, however.

As for the drawbacks, I think those would be obvious. You wouldn't be able to move freely around the map, and attack, without your Aes Sedai/Warder. If you wanted the extra damage/defense you would have to be together all the time. I don't know what other drawbacks there would be. It would be nice, if this gets done, to have some kind of symbol by your name, stating that you're bonded. That way people looking for Warders/Aes Sedai would know who was taken, and who was available to ask.

i like the idea but there are things that need to be worked out. the balance in game at the moment is the best its ever been IMO i would be worried about throwing it off if i was you tim. i think its best to keep the effects minimal, it should only be a small "detail" to the in game world not a game changer...IMHO i would be happy with a small boost to damage and defense only when both sides of the bond are in the same area, im not sure about how big the negatives should be and when they take affect?. would it be possible for two channellers to bond each other and double the bonuses and negatives? i like the idea that if one of them loses stamina it is taken off of the other too. what if both parties max stamina became a shared resource. the aes sedai and warder would have to decide among themselves about how the stamina is shared out. and there has to be something equivalent for non channellers......in the interest of fairness. i think there is potential in the idea and if we all share our thoughts we can work it out........

Well if non-channelers wanted to be bonded, perhaps the wise woman could do it? It requires the One Power, so I don't see how a person, who chose not to channel, could do it.

i was thinking something different for non channellers but with similar bonus/weaknesses. but i like the idea of them going to a channeller to bond two non channellers.

I like the idea of including official Bonding in the game, however I agree with felic's concerns of making it too powerful (or a game changer). There does not need to be any stat benefit, perhaps simply stronger stamina for the Warder (loses less stamina in battle,etc.). That way we would enrich the game without giving a serious advantage to the few lucky ones.

Rhael, I don't think that it would be few. I think as many channelers as possible would look for a non-channeler or even Aes Sedai bonding Asha'man as fast as possible. They would want the boost after all.

Rereading this thread, agree with the benefits only being active when the two are together. To your post, I agree a lot of people would become Warders, but I don't think I've ever seen an Aiel Warder

Rhael, I agree, Aiel Warders would be a bit off but, like with all classes and such, maybe Warder's would be limited to certain races and class picks. Also on the topic of bonding, maybe it should carry to the next age if possible and if the same 2 characters are created again.

On second thought, carrying it over would be stupid. Disregard that, as maybe Shylah decides to get rid of felic. (Just as an example. I think Shylah and Felic are a funny match for Aes Sedai and Warder and don't want that to end.)
