I realized that the Ji earned for fighting Horde's had been significantly reduced this round (though I can't recall it being announced). I hadn't realized how much until recently when I actually looked at the numbers.
It turns out that you actually earn less total Ji winning against a horde than vs regular NPC's.
Normal Ji for 3 turns fighting a NPC: 4 Wilderness Cities x 3 Ji = 12 Ji total in all connected cities.
Ji for a horde win: 4.7 Ji for attacked city + (2 Ji x 3 other cities) = 10.7 Ji total for all cities
This seems like a pretty bad deal to me. Especially since I seem to recall that the Exp earned for Hordes was reduced as well (though I haven't tried to look at those numbers).
I suppose 10 Ji was a bit high last round, but 4.7 seems way too low - needs to be 6 Ji just to 'break even' for the reduced Ji in the other cities. I personally think 8 Ji would be far better. Horde's should gain more total Ji and Exp since you get 2/3 less gear dropped and they are 'rare'.

Not sure where you got your Ji numbers for the horde, but they aren't quite right. It's currently: 4.5 Ji in Targeted City + (2.5 Ji x 3 other Cities) = 12 Ji.
And while it's true that battling a random NPC of the same level as you gives you 1 Ji in each surrounding city, on average you'll battle one about a level lower than you (Can't remember the exact percentages off the top of my head), so I think the average Ji you earn from a single battle is about 0.9.
Last round, I think the Ji from Hordes was 6 in targeted town and 3 in the other (15 total) and it was just excessive. I want hordes to be important, but control of a town should not be dependant on players in you clan happening to be online exactly when a horde appears targeting your city. Depending on the horde, a clan could rack up ~1000 Ji in a city in the space of an hour. It was just too much.
As for exp, I did reduce it as well, but it's still more than you would make from 3 NPC battles. I want to say the numbers are 50xp for a horde battle, where you get ~15 or so for a regular. Need to double check though. Still, I thought this round was much better than the one before, where control of towns and staying at the top of the rankings was pretty much dependant on poping online every 20 hours to find and bang on the horde before anyone else could get it.

Doh! Guess I didn't run enough turns to get the correct Ji values for fighting a horde. I agree that last round hordes were way too important. Just wanted to give some feedback that at least one user thinks they are now not important enough Also - when comparing horde vs regular NPC's - in theory there should be estates with Patrol later in the game to increase the NPC levels.. *shrug*

Sorry. Didn't mean to come off so strong in my response (reading back on it I think I did).
Good point on the Patrols. That does have the potential to at least even out the experience gain and total Ji gain. I'll keep that in mind. Hordes need to be important and worth the effort, but just need to find the right balance.
And please keep the feedback coming! As much as I try to play the game, I'm far from the most active player in the game these days, and don't see how things actually work out as much as I'd like to.
Go Team!
