Hey all. I'm really not dead. I swear! Just been busy with RL stuff and haven't had the time I'd like to devoted to the game lately. Sorry to those of you that have messaged me if I haven't responded. I'm a slacker, I know. Anyways, trying to get myself back in the game. Hard at work on V10 now, though it's probably not going to be ready as soon as I'd like (shocking, I know). Now it's looking like the Test site will probably open in mid-January, with the official launch somewhere around late February/early March. Got some big changes coming though that I hope you guys will like. I'm probably more nervous about this version than I have been about any in a long time. Not ready to share all the details yet (though I will have a full blown Countdown again for this one), but one detail I want to assure you of: The Last Battle is coming! Be ready! Go Team!

Sorry. I've been putting off updates because I haven't wanted to admit how far behind I am. Really, I'm about 6 weeks behind where I wanted to be at this point. Truth of the matter is, it's WoT's fault. I pushed myself really hard to finish my reread of the series before AMoL and all the limited free time I had over Xmas break went to that. After that, was AMoL itself. Finished that and was pretty spent and needed a few days to catch up on my sleep. Was about to dig in hard last week and then both kids came down with nasty colds with I then had to fight off. Fun times. Enough excuses though. Rereading the series and finishing AMoL was just the spark I needed to get myself psyched up about GoS again. Already made plans with Ali tomorrow to get some alone time to hide out in the basement and dig back into the changes. As I've said, a lot of the changes have to do with adding an 'end game' scenario, but my plan is to first work on the changes that you'll notice earlier on in the game. After those are done and the framework needed for the end, I'll open the test site. Hopefully that can be done by mid-February (though the twins first B-day is the 15th, so it's probably a safe bet that the site won't open that weekend). Once that's done, I'll finish up the Last Battle stuff and make sure we get at least one dry run before launch (though I may have to artificially speed thing up to test it). So here's the answer to the question you probably all want to know: My new goal for launch is the end of March. Sorry for the delay, but unfortunately that's where we stand now. Will try to get the test site open as soon as I'm comfortable (and there's something out there worth testing). Thanks for the patience. Go Team!

What? Putting your family ahead of us? How can this be? Anyway, sarcasm over....Whoohoo! I'm really getting stoaked for this next round. Sounds like we're gonna have quite a few people coming back.

We're getting close, I swear! Here's my plan to get us to V10 Launch: 1) Add city Bubbles of Evil and City Rumors 2) Add coded for breaking of Seals. If we aren't to the point where they should break yet (I hope it doesn't take me that long...), make the Creator character level 79 and level up. Make sure it looks like the countdown of breaking seals seems to be working. 3) Add code for destroying cities. Probably will pick one to destroy as a test. Will TRY to set it up so I can undo it before the Last Battle, but if not we'll deal with it. 4) Add code for handling the Last Battle's first couple phases (having multiple hordes active at the same time and targeting the right places). Also at this point I'll code up the final phase of the Last Battle and announce what it is (I DO have a plan, I just like keeping it under wraps as long as possible. ) 5) If we're not there yet, speed things up so the Last Battle kicks off. Let it run at normal speed so we can see just how painful it is. I may tweak things a little as we go if it seems to easy/hard for one side or the other. 6) After Last Battle is finished, do a final reset to make sure all is ready for launch. Clean up any remaining bugs. 7) Launch!!! So, your next question is probably how long is this going to take? My hope is to get #1 done by Sunday night (4/21). Get #2 done by no later than next weekend (4/28). Hopefully that will sit a fire under me (only 30 days at worst case before Last Battle kicks off). Spend the next week playing with destroying cities (5/5) and probably need another week to get Last Battle stuff ready (5/12). Running through Last Battle will take about a week so it should be done by ~5/19. Given that I like launching on weekends (so I have time to put out fires if I need to) and I were a betting man, I'd put money on the weekend of 5/26. Now, that seems like a long way out (cuz it kinda is). I HOPE that things don't take that long, but I also know me and how RL likes to disrupt my nice little schedules, so I don't want to commit to pushing too hard only to fail miserably. If things fall in place and we get things done earlier than that, I'll launch earlier. If we run through the Last Battle and it just sucks horribly I may try to reset things up at to run through the Last Battle scenario again with some tweaks adding another week or two on things, but I REALLY want to avoid that. Probably make the tweaks and cross my fingers for the live version. So 5/26 is my target, but it realistic could be a week or two on either side of that. We'll know more when get closer, but don't clear your schedules for that weekend quite yet. Wish us luck! Go Team!

So according to my last post above, we should be in the middle of the Last Battle right now. Obviously, we're not. So where do we stand? I do most of my work for the game on the weekends (hard to come home from a long day of writing code and motivate myself to write more code). The weekend before last both my family and I were sick, so no progress there, and last weekend was my b-day and Mother's Day, so none there either. *sigh* Still need to add code for destruction of cities and write code for all the Last Battle scenarios. I'm hoping to get a lot done this weekend (have a friend's party Saturday nite, but other than that I think it's down time). With luck, I'll get the destruction of cities coded and at least a good chunk of Last Battle stuff. Based on the Seals breaking, at worst case we have just over 14 days until the last Seal breaks and the Last Battle should start. Probably going to be pretty close to that at this point. I may speed it up by a few days so it starts sometime the weekend of the 24-26, though that's Memorial day weekend :/. Would prefer the first day of the Last Battle be a day I have off so I can fix whatever's going wrong. As for the Last Battle itself, I have been convinced by you guys that my original plan was too extreme (too many battles needed and not enough time to recharge them). I'll post the revisions I've come up with based on your suggestions to the forum soon. Possibly with the plan for the final phase of the Last Battle too. . Go Team!
