Things bogged down and quit responding about 11:15 EST, browser progress bar typically stalling about 90%, got one "can't establish a connection to the server at gos.talij.com" eventually, and got this on one attempt to load T'A'R chat:
"Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /home/talijc5/public_html/gosv8/admin/connect.php on line 4 Could not connect to the MySQL database. Please try again in a few minutes."
actually thought to copy error text this time, although it's most likely a server load problem
11:40 - going straight to "can't establish a connection" now...
11:50 - back to stalled load progress. able to load home page, very sluggishly, in another browser, but all logged-in loads stall. could this mean that it's the database access that's choked off and stalling the page load?
12:30 - still choked

it was still choked just before 1:00, got busy and just now checking in again, so not sure when it straightened out. I was accessing anything else on the 'net with no problem, so (this time, at least) it wasn't just me...
12:00 EST - login page loads, but login stalls indefinitely
12:15 - won't load login page - after extensive blank-page stall, "connection to server was reset... network link interrupted while negotiating a connection"
12:30 - 2min+ stall during login page load, only blank white page displayed, eventually "completed" page load still with blank page and "http://gos.talij.com/bio.php?autologin=1322587759" in address bar
1:30 - working again, not sure when it revived within last hour

Things have still been flaky the last few days. Talked to the host again and they are going to move the site to one of their brand new servers. Hopefully that should fix the problem for good. Not sure if we'll see any downtime from the move. Hopefully not.
