Decided to go ahead and set this thread up. Won't be an announcement for a while, but figured why not put it out there. Been working finishing an X-mas present for my wife the last week or so (still not finished, but it's to a point where it's useable. Need to add Money and Time still. You can check it out if you want. She's a 2nd Grade teacher, fyi. ), but now I plan to get some work done on v3. Don't expect to see anything soon though. I'd be really surprise if I have an open test site out there before March. There's lots of changes that need to be made that will simply leave the game broken for long periods of time for a while, so it's easier if its just me there. I'm moving into a new house in early May, so my goal is to get it ready, tested, out, and done by then. While May seems a long way off, remember that it took me nearly 4.5 months to go from v1 to v2 (Sept 1 to Jan 11), and it's only a little more than 3 to the begining of May and the v3 changes are easily as much as v2, if not more. Plus as May gets closer more of my free time will get eaten up by packing and such, so it'd going to be a push. Wish me luck!

You scored 100 out of a possible 100! You got a perfect score!

*wishes Tim luck* The math game is sooo cute! I love it! Now I just have to find a second grader and make them use it Or maybe practise doing sums and so in my head... It's been a while, after all! ;D

just so long as v2 stays up long enough for some people to be able to use any weapon combo they like - I can think of one combo thats 2536 points - at 12 points a level that about level 211 - which would take ages to reach!

I don't care if we don't get there this age or not, but eventually, I would also like to be able to basically max the gear out and see what we can do. If we can't max it, it would be nice to get close. Resetting at level 50 or something like that each age is not going to allow the game to shine, and we'll grow bored playing with the same toys each round, always wishing we could last long enough to put poisonous talis of Shadar Logoth on them and still equip the buggers...
In response to how long it would take, maybe we could reintroduce talis that add XP, but make them pretty spendy, so that you can't really use them until you're level 100 or 150 or whatever seems best.

I don't plan on resetting this version until v3 comes out, so that should give you plenty of time to get better equipment. If not the best, then you should be able to get darn close. The reason previous versions would get reset not long after everyone was in the 50's or 60's was that there was little you could do to improve yourself after that. Skills and equipment maxed out fairly quickly, except for a few rare talismen. With the weapon changes for v2, it was in hopes to keep things more interesting longer. The fact that you can't equip the absolute most expensive combo to level 200+ just means I did a good job at that. I haven't done (and don't plan on doing) the math to see how long it will take to reach level 211, but you should be able to get quite high by May. Plus there will probably be a break between v3 and v4 work as I'll be getting settled in the new house, so I'll leave v2 up until its time to set up the v4 test site (Not even gonna try to estimate when that will be). Hope that's a satisfactory answer.

Well the experince to go from level X to level X+1 is (80+(20*x)). So level 1->2 takes 100 xp, 2->3 takes 120, etc.
So simply going from 215->216 would take 4380xp, so that's 4-5 days worth of battles right there. Good luck getting that high in a few months.
And at this point I don't plan on bringing back the xp bonus talismen. Too hard to properly balance.

is the exp still 20 for a win 10 for a loss, plus 2 for beating a top 10 (win score? exp?) player as well as 2 for clan in control?

Yup, but also +/-1 per level difference(ex. lvl 18 beats lvl 15 gets 17 exp) and +/-2 per equip level difference (ex. Heavy beats Light at equal levels gets 16 exp).

Been a while since a V3 update, so I figured I'd better let you guys know where I stand.
Work for character classes is pretty much done for now. There was some additional skill stuff I was planning on doing, but after thinking about it I decided it's probably best to try to get what I have balanced before throwing more on the pile. Additional class stuff was be no means scrapped though. Might get some more thought and get added in a later version, depending on how well the current skill stuff goes over.
NPC stuff is in work. Still quite a ways to go on that, as I don't have hardly any of the code in written to handle it. Once I get that pounded out and working, I'll likely be ready to open the test site. Not going set a date for that at this point, as it depends on how smoothly coding goes and how much time I find to work on it. I'll just say I'd be pretty surprised if it was before mid-March.
The third of the 3 big things that I said I was going to add in v3 got slipped to v4. It was probably the most ambitious of the 3 things, but also the thing that I think might have helped the game the most (a little digging and thought and you can probably figure out what it is). I decided I'd rather push it off to v4 and do it good and right rather than throw something together in a rush and have it turn out crappy. As of right now, it'll be my main focus for V4.
Classes and NPCs aren't the only things coming in v3. They're just the biggest. There are also some sizeable clan changes I have planned, though those likely won't be finished when the test site opens. Not sure what all will make it in yet, so I'm not gonna go into too much detail just yet. Will just say that it will make clan wars a lot more interesting and include things that will make some of you quite happy.
Also just want to give props to Ed for his putting up with all the graphics work that I've loaded loaded up on him. Go Ed Go!

Thanks Tim, I just wanted to say, since I have access and have seen a bit of V3, that I think it will be the best GoS ever, and all that I'm trying to do is make it look good. Considering all the work Tim put in, its the least I could do and the game deserves it.
